Setting up the Grandmother is pretty simple. After connecting it to headphones or mixer, all you have to do is power it on and allow it to warm up for 10-15 minutes. Follow these steps to set up your Moog Grandmother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Initial setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Setting up your new Grandmother is pretty easy, just plug it in and start playing. Follow these steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Turn the Output Volume<\/strong> all the way down.<\/li>
- Connect the included power adapter to your Grandmother and an AC outlet.<\/li>
- Using the MAIN OUT\/HEADPHONE OUT<\/strong>, plug in your headphones or use a 1\/4\u2033 TS cable<\/a> to connect to an amp, sound system, or recording interface.<\/li>
- Power the Grandmother on and allow it to warm up for 10-15 minutes<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Turn up the OUTPUT VOLUME<\/strong> knob and get synthesizing!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
MIDI connections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Use the Grandmother\u2019s\u00a0USB connection to connect directly to\u00a0a computer. This is useful for controlling your Grandmother\u00a0with a DAW or\u00a0recording the Grandmother\u2019s MIDI\u00a0output. The MIDI jacks can be used to connect and communicate with other hardware, such as an audio interface or another MIDI enabled\u00a0device. Global MIDI settings are configured using pages 37 and 38 of the\u00a0user manual<\/a>. Once configured,\u00a0visit the MIDI Documentation charts on pages 43 and 44\u00a0to see all the available MIDI functions and their corresponding\u00a0Controller Change (CC) numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No sound coming out?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
If you\u2019re not getting any sound from the Grandmother\u2019s audio outputs, it\u2019s likely that a knob just needs adjustment. We found the settings below are reliable to use when making sure the Grandmother is synthesizing as it should. Follow these steps to get sound out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Set your OUTPUT VOLUME<\/strong> knob to minimum.<\/li>
- Under MIXER, set OSCILLATOR 1 & 2<\/strong> to maximum.<\/li>
- Under FILTER, set CUTOFF<\/strong> to maximum.<\/li>
- Under ENVELOPE, set ATTACK & RELEASE<\/strong> to minimum, SUSTAIN<\/strong> to middle, and DECAY<\/strong> to maximum.<\/li>
- Slowly turn up your OUTPUT VOLUME<\/strong> knob and play the keys to get sound.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
