Getting started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this article, we’ll show you how to install the Komplete Kontrol Driver, update the firmware, and set up your Komplete Kontrol S-Series Keyboard with the Komplete Kontrol software on both Mac and PC. Before you can set up your Komplete Kontrol S-Series Keyboard, you need to register the hardware to your Native Instruments account and install both the Komplete Kontrol and Komplete 11 Select software using Native Access. If you have not already done so, please click the Register & Install<\/a> button above and follow the instructions before proceeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once done, Mac users can start by updating the firmware<\/a>, however, Windows users will need to first install the Komplete Kontrol Driver<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Install Komplete Kontrol Driver for Windows<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Audio and MIDI devices often require \u201cdrivers\u201d. The driver software allows a compatible computer to communicate with your specific device. While macOS does not need a driver for Komplete Kontrol MK2, it is required for Windows. If you followed our Komplete 11 Setup Guide<\/a>, the driver was installed along with the Komplete Kontrol software. If your Komplete Kontrol S-Series Keyboard is not detected by Komplete Kontrol or the Firmware Updater (below) you may need to reinstall the driver separately. Follow the steps below to install the Komplete Kontrol S-Series driver for Windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to Native Instrument\u2019s downloads page<\/a> and scroll down to Komplete Kontrol. Then, click Komplete Kontrol MK2 Driver<\/strong> to start the driver download.<\/li>
  2. Open your Downloads folder. Then, select the Komplete_Kontrol_MK2<\/strong> folder and click Extract All<\/strong> to unzip it. Once done, delete the .zip folder.<\/li>
  3. Open the new uncompressed folder, launch the Komplete Kontrol MK2 Driver Setup PC.exe<\/strong> and follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver.<\/li>
  4. Once the driver has been installed, power off<\/strong> the computer. <\/li>
  5. Connect and power on<\/strong> Komplete Kontrol MK2 and then power on<\/strong> the computer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Update Komplete Kontrol MK2 Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Before using your Komplete Kontrol MK2, we recommend updating it with the most recent firmware available from Native Instruments. Firmware refers to updates only applied to the Komplete Kontrol S-Series hardware and can be done on both Windows and macOS operating systems. To update your Komplete Kontrol keyboard, follow the steps below. Once done, we recommend restarting your computer system once the installation is completed. Follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Power off<\/strong> the computer. Then, power off<\/strong> Komplete Kontrol Mk2.<\/li>
    2. Wait 10<\/strong> seconds.<\/li>
    3. Power on<\/strong> Komplete Kontrol Mk2. Then, power on<\/strong> the computer. When your computer is ready to go, launch the Komplete Kontrol application.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Download Firmware Updater<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      1. Connect Komplete Kontrol keyboard to your computer. Then, power it on<\/strong>.<\/li>
      2. Power on<\/strong> your computer.<\/li>
      3. Go to Native Instrument\u2019s downloads page<\/a> and scroll down to Komplete Kontrol<\/strong>.<\/li>
      4. Click the Firmware Updater for Komplete Kontrol MK2 <\/strong>for Windows or macOS.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Update Komplete Kontrol MK2 Firmware<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Windows<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
        1. Go to your downloads folder.<\/li>
        2. Select the KKS_MK2_Firmware_Updater <\/strong>.zip folder and click Extract All<\/strong> to unzip it. Then, open the new uncompressed folder and launch the KKS_MK2_Firmware_Updater.exe<\/strong> found inside.<\/li>
        3. Click Update<\/strong> to begin the firmware update.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          macOS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
          1. Go to your Downloads<\/strong> folder.<\/li>
          2. Double-click the KKS_MK2_Firmware_Updater <\/strong>.zip folder and a KKS_MK2_Firmware_Updater<\/strong> app will be created in your Downloads folder. Double click the app to launch it.<\/li>
          3. Click Update<\/strong> to begin the firmware update.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            Set Up Komplete Kontrol Keyboard with App<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            When the Komplete Kontrol app launches, it will scan for library content and prompt you to update your Audio and MIDI preferences. The library content scan will load everything synchronized by Native Access into Komplete Kontrol. When prompted to update your audio and MIDI preferences, follow the steps below<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Audio preferences<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
            1. (Driver) Select the driver to be used by your Audio Device.<\/li>
            2. (Audio Device) Select your audio device. If your device does not appear in this list, visit our Resolving Audio Interface Issues guides for Windows<\/a> and macOS<\/a>.<\/li>
            3. (Sample Rate) Select the sample rate your audio interface is set to.<\/li>
            4. (Buffer Size) Set the buffer to the lowest setting that provides the least delay and the best sound quality.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Tip:<\/strong> The Routings section of Komplete Kontrol will display the default inputs and outputs available on your Audio Device. While selectable, most users will not require the routing to be updated.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              MIDI preferences<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
              1. Select the MIDI<\/strong> tab.<\/li>
              2. Locate your MIDI controller ports and change them to On<\/strong> for both Input and Output tabs.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                Note:<\/strong> For Komplete Kontrol and Maschine hardware controllers<\/em>, turn Port 1 on when transmitting MIDI over USB. Turn Port 2 on when transmitting MIDI over the 5 Pin MIDI cable.
