A multiseat Sibelius license allows one Sibelius serial number to be used on multiple computers. There are two ways in which a multiseat license can be used: network and standalone. This article from Avid gives an overview of the differences:<\/p>\n
In this mode, the Sibelius License Server program is installed and Activated on one computer or server (aka the “Host”) using an\u00a0Activation ID<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0System ID<\/b>\u00a0(provided with purchase via an “Entitlement Certificate”). \u00a0Any number of computers with Sibelius installed, up to the limit allowed under the license, can then connect to the License Server over the network and run Sibelius – there is no need to individually activate each computer.<\/p>\n
If users need to be able to run Sibelius without being connected to the network (for example, a teacher needs take their laptop home), the license can be\u00a0checked out<\/strong>\u00a0to that computer. Once a user checks out their license, they are able to run Sibelius, while away from the network, for an amount of time specified by the administrator. Licenses can be checked back in at any time, and the administrator is free to choose the number of allowed simultaneous check-outs, up to the limit allowed under the license.<\/p>\n Network usage requires that the Sibelius License Server software be installed on a host machine in order to use the\u00a0Classroom Control<\/strong>\u00a0features of Sibelius. If you have a Network license for Sibelius, you will need to download the Sibelius License Server software\u00a0here<\/a>.\u00a0Documentation for the License Server and how to set it up is included with the License Server installation.\u00a0 Once installed, this can be found in\u00a0C:\\ Program Files (x86)\\ Avid\\ Sibelius 7.5 License Server(folder)<\/b>\u00a0 [Windows] or in\u00a0Macintosh HD\/ Applications\/ Sibelius 7.5 License Server(folder)<\/b>\u00a0[Mac].\u00a0*You are strongly advised to refer to the \u201cLicense Server User Guide.pdf\u201d for setup instructions.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In this mode, each computer being used must be individually Activated using the multi-seat\u00a0Activation ID\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0System ID<\/b>\u00a0(provided with your purchase via an “Entitlement Certificate”).\u00a0 Each time you activate on a computer, this will take up a seat with your license and the activation is unique to each machine; so if you have reached the maximum number of activations with your license and you wish to activate Sibelius on a new computer, you must Deactivate [File(tab)>Help>Deactivate]. This will free up a license seat and then you can activate on the computer you wish to transfer it to.\u00a0* If you are unable to Deactivate a computer for any reason (hard drive failure etc.), please contact Sibelius Support by filling in this<\/i>\u00a0case creation form<\/a>.<\/p>\n NB:<\/strong>\u00a0Cloning or “ghosting” of Sibelius installations running with an\u00a0Activated<\/i>\u00a0 license is\u00a0not supported<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0and will cause Sibelius to produce\u00a0an error on start up<\/a>. However, if the installation of Sibelius that you’re trying to clone has not yet been Activated, cloning\/ ghosting can work.
