The Roland TR-8 can send 14 channels and receive 4 channels via USB. In order to utilize the TR-8 as an audio interface, you’ll need to download the driver<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Once you’ve installed the driver, launch your DAW. Please note that the TR-8 can only operate at a sampling rate of 96kHz, so you’ll need to create your session or project accordingly.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

After your DAW is open, simply set the playback device as the TR-8 and set up your I\/O to reflect the 14 inputs and 4 outputs.<\/p>\n

Here’s the breakdown of the audio inputs:<\/p>\n

  2. Mix Out R<\/li>\n
  3. Bass Drum\n

  4. Snare Drum<\/li>\n
  5. Low Tom<\/li>\n
  6. Mid Tom<\/li>\n

  9. Hand Clap<\/li>\n
  10. Closed Hihat<\/li>\n
  11. Open Hihat<\/li>\n
  12. Crash Cymbal<\/li>\n
  13. Ride Cymbal<\/li>\n
  14. External In<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In order to capture the Scatter effect, Accent, Reverb, or Delay, you’ll need to use the Mix L and R channels.<\/p>\n

    For each channel, the volume can be controlled by the individual faders on the TR-8 itself. The Mix L and R channels are controlled by the main Volume knob. If you want to mix the sequence in your DAW instead of on the TR-8, simply push all of the faders on the TR-8 all the way up, then adjust the faders in your DAW.<\/p>\n
