Once connected, you will then need to open your MIDI device and select it as the <em>Input <\/em>and <em>Output <\/em>port. After it has been selected, you can then trigger MIDI information from your device to see the results in the monitor window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect the MIDI device to your computer, then launch MIDI-OX.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Navigate to the<strong> Options <\/strong>menu, then click <strong>MIDI Devices\u2026<\/strong><ul><li>If your device isn\u2019t showing up, be sure you have the latest drivers installed, and that it was connected <em>before <\/em>launching MIDI-OX.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>In the MIDI Devices window, select your device under the <em>MIDI Inputs <\/em>and <em>MIDI Outputs<\/em>, and then click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Troubleshooting-MIDI-input-issues\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Troubleshooting MIDI input issues<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>: When testing the MIDI input, be sure to enable <em>Monitoring MIDI data<\/em>. You can tell it\u2019s enabled by seeing a green traffic light icon on the top toolbar and a dark blue box around <strong>REC<\/strong> located at the lower right-hand corner of MIDI-OX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If an encoder or key is intermittent or not working at all, but you\u2019re able to trigger and hear other notes, MIDI-OX is an easy way to determine whether or not your MIDI hardware\u2019s input is faulty.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you first launch MIDI-OX, you\u2019ll see the MIDI Output monitor window. To test MIDI input, you\u2019ll want to open the MIDI Input monitor. To do this, navigate to <strong>View, <\/strong>then select <strong>Input Monitor<\/strong>.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the MIDI Input Monitor window is open, and you press a key or pad, turn an encoder knob, or use a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/mod-wheel\/\" target=\"_blank\">mod wheel<\/a>, MIDI-OX will detect it and display all related MIDI activity for that particular function. Testing the MIDI output in MIDI-OX is especially useful with more elaborate setups, or if you\u2019re using software or another external synth to trigger that module. Follow these steps to test the MIDI output of the device in question.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Set the MIDI device in question as the Output device within the <em>MIDI Devices&#8230;. <\/em>menu.&nbsp;<\/li><li>After that, go to <strong>Actions<\/strong> then select <strong>Keyboard<\/strong>. This will turn your computer\u2019s keyboard into a MIDI keyboard.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>Z<\/strong>, <strong>X<\/strong>, <strong>C<\/strong>, and <strong>Y <\/strong>keys on your computer\u2019s keyboard.
