When you have created your mixes (see\u00a0Part 1<\/a>), you then need to route them to the outputs of your device. This is done predominantly using the routing panel, shown below.<\/p>\n

This panel can be found in the bottom left-hand corner of Saffire MixControl.<\/p>\n

Please Note:<\/b> If you are using a Saffire PRO 24 DSP or a Liquid Saffire 56 and can only see the first 2 outputs, click on the button to the left of the one marked\u00a0Routing Preset\u2026<\/i>, and select\u00a0Router<\/i>.<\/p>\n

This panel shows all of the available outputs on your interface (the screenshot above shows Saffire MixControl with a Liquid Saffire 56 connected), and each output has a button next to it that can be used to assign a specific audio stream to that output.<\/p>\n

To assign an output, click on the button next to that output. As shown below, you will be able to choose between 3 different types of audio streams:\u00a0Inputs<\/i>,\u00a0DAW<\/abbr><\/i>, and\u00a0Mixes<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Inputs<\/i><\/b>\u00a0are the audio inputs on your interface, both analogue and digital. This will route audio straight from the selected audio input, to the selected audio output, without incurring the\u00a0latency<\/abbr>\u00a0of a round trip down the FireWire bus and back.<\/p>\n

DAW<\/abbr><\/i><\/b>\u00a0contains all of the audio streams coming back from your computer, whether from your recording software, or from a media player, or System Sounds.<\/p>\n

Mixes<\/i><\/b>\u00a0are the audio steams created by a combination of\u00a0Inputs<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0DAW<\/abbr><\/i>s. More information about these can be found in\u00a0Part 1<\/a> of this tutorial.<\/p>\n

Routing Presets<\/b><\/p>\n

Clicking on the\u00a0Routing Preset\u2026<\/i>\u00a0button to the left of your monitor outputs in the routing pane gives access to the following five preset routing configurations that can be used as an alternative to configuring the routing manually:<\/p>\n

Clear<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Turns all outputs off.
\nDAW<\/abbr>\u00a0Tracking<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Routes\u00a0DAW<\/abbr>\u00a01<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0DAW<\/abbr>\u00a02<\/i>\u00a0(outputs 1 and 2 from your computer) to each pair of analogue outputs.
\nZero\u00a0Latency<\/abbr>\u00a0Tracking<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Routes\u00a0Mix 1<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Mix 2<\/i>\u00a0(or\u00a0Mix 1 (L)<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Mix 1 (R)<\/i>) to each pair of analogue outputs.
\nMixing<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Routes all\u00a0DAW<\/abbr>\u00a0outputs from your computer to the corresponding analogue output.
\nLoopback<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Routes\u00a0DAW<\/abbr>\u00a01<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0DAW<\/abbr>\u00a02<\/i>\u00a0to the loopback (virtual) outputs for re-recording back into your computer.<\/p>\n
