V-TRACKS<\/p>\n
In the VS-series recorders, a track is a collection of 16 V-Tracks, any one of which can be selected at any given time. When a V-Track is selected, you can record on it or play it back. A track\u0092s 16 V-Tracks can contain anything you want. They can play the same take in different ways or they can contain different things altogether. When you record or playback a V-Track, the settings of the corresponding track channel determine what it sounds like. Although the VS-series recorders are 18 or 24 track studios, in a very real sense there’s way more possibilities than that. For example, since each of the 18 tracks on the VS-2000CD can play any of the 16 V-Tracks, a project can actually hold as many as 288 recordings.
In the CH EDIT screen, the V.TRK selector allows you to select one of the track\u0092s 16 V-Tracks for recording and\/or playback. You can use this parameter to select the desired V-Track in either of two ways. In both cases, you start by selecting the V.TRK parameter.
Then you can:
– turn the TIME\/VALUE dial to select the desired V-Track.
– press the flashing ENTER\/YES button to view the V.TRK Pop-Up window that graphically displays all 16 of the track\u0092s V-Tracks. Each V-Track appears as a line. If the line is thin, there\u0092s no recorded data on that track-if it\u0092s thick, or bold, there is. <\/p>\n
You can also select a track channel\u0092s V-Track with a connected mouse using the HOME screen\u0092s V-Track map. The V-Track map shows you the project\u0092s V-Tracks arranged in a grid of horizontal rows corresponding to the project\u0092s tracks. Each of the 16 V-Tracks in a row are represented by a symbol that tells you if the V-Track contains data and if it\u0092s currently selected or not.
