Extended GE support<br \/>In addition to the 1,190 preset GE’s (Generated Effects) used<br \/>to generate phrases and patterns within a KARMA module,<br \/>system version 2.0 gives you 320 user GE memories (32 x<br \/>10 banks).<br \/>Planned future products in the EXB-PCM 04\/05 will<br \/>include new programs and combinations created especially<br \/>for the KARMA music workstation, as well as newly<br \/>created GE data. This GE data can be loaded into the<br \/>internal user GE memory of the KARMA music workstation<br \/>to give you even broader possibilities for music<br \/>production and performance.<br \/>By using KARMA MW* (dedicated software for the<br \/>KARMA Music Workstation), you can edit and create your<br \/>own GE’s on your computer. You can edit any of the more<br \/>than 400 internal parameters that make up a GE, so you can<br \/>create original user GE data, plus template data such as<br \/>Rhythm Patterns, CC Patterns, and Drum Patterns that can<br \/>be utilized by your custom GE’s. The GE data you create<br \/>can be loaded via floppy disk or MIDI dump into the 320<br \/>memories (32 x 10 banks) of the KARMA music workstation.<br \/>The KARMA MW software also lets you convert SMF<br \/>(Standard MIDI File) data into a GE. You can quickly<br \/>convert short sections of MIDI performance data into user<br \/>GE’s, and then immediately use the KARMA Realtime<br \/>Controls to freely randomize and modify the phrases. This<br \/>functionality is tightly integrated for efficient use. The<br \/>Karma workstation can respond to a MIDI request from<br \/>KARMA MW by converting sequence data you created in<br \/>Sequencer mode into SMF data, and then transmitting it<br \/>to KARMA MW as a MIDI dump. The data can then be<br \/>converted by KARMA MW into a user GE and loaded back<br \/>into the Karma workstation, letting you use the KARMA<br \/>function to modify the phrase and transform it into<br \/>countless unique variations.<br \/>*Produced by Karma Lab (http:\/\/www.karma-lab.com).<br \/>Macintosh and Windows versions are available. English<br \/>version only.<br \/>For details on obtaining this software and user<br \/>support, please contact the Korg distributor for your<br \/>country.<br \/>2. Freeze Randomize<br \/>You can now freeze (capture for playback) the infinitely-varying<br \/>phrases generated by KARMA’s Randomize<br \/>features. The newly added “Start Seed” parameter lets you<br \/>select which of over four billion random starting points<br \/>KARMA will use to generate a new musical effect. Use the<br \/>“Freeze Loop Length” parameter to specify the measures<br \/>at which Freeze will be turned on and off and the length of<br \/>a repetitive loop. Use the “Random Capture” Utility<br \/>Command to capture the state of the randomizations at any<br \/>time, to put it under your control for triggering or looping.<br \/>Thanks to this new functionality, you can capture and re-<br \/>use any desired phrase that was generated by the KARMA<br \/>function, giving you total control and predictability over<br \/>what is happening.<br \/>3. Time Signature Control<br \/>You now have realtime control over the time signature of<br \/>the phrases generated by a KARMA module. For example,<br \/>a 4\/4 phrase can be instantly changed to a 3\/4 phrase.<br \/>Multiple grooves in a combination such as drums, bass,<br \/>guitar riffs, and lead phrases can be controlled simultaneously.<br \/>This new function is an ideal way to develop<br \/>variations or exciting performance twists from your<br \/>phrases.<br \/>4. Tap Tempo Control<br \/>The front panel [TIMBRE\/TRACK] key can now be used as<br \/>a tap tempo controller. You can press the key at the desired<br \/>tempo to adjust the playback tempo of the KARMA<br \/>function in realtime. This can control not only the KARMA<br \/>function, but the sequencer and SMF playback tempo as<br \/>well. A foot switch can also be used to control tap tempo.<br \/>5. KARMA Tx Filter “Notes”<br \/>This feature applies filtering to only the note data that is<br \/>being generated by a KARMA module, allowing other<br \/>MIDI data such as CC modulation and pitch bend to still be<br \/>generated. Since the note phrase generated by the KARMA<br \/>module will not sound, you can use this to make the<br \/>KARMA module generate control data such as pan, filter<br \/>cutoff, or resonance that will apply modulation to the<br \/>phrases or chords you play manually on the keyboard.<br \/>6. K.RTC (KARMA REALTIME CONTROLS)<br \/>value display function<br \/>When you operate the KARMA REALTIME CONTROLS<br \/>knobs and switches in the KARMA RTC page of each<br \/>mode, the values of the parameters you are controlling<br \/>will be displayed. This convenient function provides<br \/>realtime visual indication of the GE parameter and RT<br \/>parameter values of the modules you are controlling.<br \/>7. Auto K.RTC Name function<br \/>Based on the GE parameters and RT parameters that are<br \/>being controlled, appropriate names (out of the 407 names<br \/>such as Rhythm Swing% and Rhythm Complexity) can be<br \/>automatically assigned for the KARMA REALTIME<br \/>CONTROLS knobs and switches. You can use this when<br \/>creating new KARMA function assignments, or changing<br \/>GE selections.<br \/>8. Copy\/Swap KARMA SCENE<br \/>You can now copy or swap (exchange) the SCENE 1\/2<br \/>settings of the KARMA function. This lets you make more<br \/>efficient use of the SCENE function which stores the state<br \/>of the KARMA REALTIME CONTROLS knobs and<br \/>switches.<br \/>9. GE parameters<br \/>KARMA Music Workstation system version 2.0 adds<br \/>several new GE parameters and GE parameter values.<br \/>Planned future products in the EXB-PCM 04\/05 are<br \/>expected to include new programs, combinations, and GE<br \/>data designed for the KARMA music workstation that will<br \/>use these parameters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","categories":[],"tags":[],"storecat":[],"itemids":[24313],"manufacturers":[33480],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v17.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Check out the what does the Version 2 software add to the KARMA? page at Sweetwater \u2014 the world's leading music technology and instrument retailer!\" \/>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/what-version-2-software-add-karma\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"what does the Version 2 software add to the KARMA? - SweetCare\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"1.
