It always comes up as an unknown device in device manager. Why? How do I fix this?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> The 001 Factory Install Notes require you to insert<br \/>the iLok USB SmartKey before running the PACE System<br \/>Files Setup and the Factory Plug-In installers. This<br \/>can present a problem since Windows 98SE\/Me will<br \/>detect the iLok but will not have drivers loaded for<br \/>it. The iLok may show up in the System<br \/>Properties\/Device Manager under the heading Other<br \/>Devices, illustrated with a yellow question mark. Even<br \/>after installing the PACE System Files Setup and<br \/>Factory Plug-Ins, Windows will not recognize the iLok<br \/>and the plug-ins will not load as authorized versions<br \/>when Pro Tools is launched. <\/p>\n<p>For Windows to recognize the iLok correctly, go to:<br \/>1) Control Panel > System Properties > Device Manager<br \/>> Other Devices <br \/>2) Highlight the iLok and select Add\/Remove <br \/>3)Close the System Properties and restart the computer<\/p>\n<p>By removing the generic iLok listing from the Device<br \/>Manager, the system will re-detect the iLok when you<br \/>restart the computer. Windows will load the PACE<br \/>drivers and the iLok will now show up in the Device<br \/>Manager under Dongles > USB iLok Driver.
