{"id":15239,"date":"2002-07-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-07-12T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/?p=15239"},"modified":"2007-04-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-04-27T00:00:00","slug":"save-file-triton","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/save-file-triton\/","title":{"rendered":"How do I save a file on the Triton?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How to save data<br \/>As an example, we will explain how to save the following data.<br \/>&#8211; Internal memory programs, combinations, global<br \/>settings, user drum kits, user arpeggio patterns<br \/>&#8211; Songs, cue lists<br \/>&#8211; Multisamples and samples created in Sampling mode<br \/>etc.<br \/>If you are saving this data on floppy disk, more than<br \/>one disk may be necessary.<br \/>1 Prepare the media on which you want to save the<br \/>data.<br \/>If you want to save data on a floppy disk, insert the<br \/>floppy disk into the floppy disk drive of the TRITON<br \/>STUDIO.<br \/>For details on handling floppy disks, please be sure to<br \/>read &#8220;Cautions when handling floppy disks&#8221; (p.62).<br \/>If you want to use the CDRW-1 option to save data on<br \/>a CD-R\/RW disc, insert a CD-R\/RW disc into the<br \/>drive.<br \/>For details on handling CD-R\/RW discs, please be sure<br \/>to read &#8220;Cautions when handling CD-R\/RW discs.&#8221; If<br \/>you will be using the disc to save data, it must be formatted.<br \/>If you want to save data on external media such as a<br \/>SCSI-connected hard disk, make sure that the external<br \/>SCSI drive is connected. <br \/>Format the media if necessary. <br \/>2 Press the [DISK] key to enter Disk mode.<br \/>3 Press the Save tab to access the Save page.<br \/>4 Press Drive Select to select the save-destination<br \/>drive.<br \/>5 If the media contains directories, select the directory<br \/>in which you want to save the data.<br \/>To move to a lower level, press the Open button. To<br \/>move to a higher level, press the Up button.<br \/>If you are saving data on high-capacity media, we<br \/>recommend that you create directories to organize<br \/>the media into sections.<br \/>To create a new directory, move to the level at which<br \/>you want to create the directory, and execute the Utility<br \/>page menu command &#8220;Create Directory.&#8221;<br \/>6 Press the page menu button to access the page menu,<br \/>and press &#8220;Save All.&#8221;<br \/>A dialog box will appear. The contents, settings, and<br \/>operations for the dialog box will depend on the type<br \/>of data that you are saving. For details refer to PG<br \/>p.166.<br \/>7 Press the text edit button and input a filename for the<br \/>file you want to save. <br \/>8 Press each Selection button to access the dialog box,<br \/>and use the check boxes to uncheck any items that<br \/>you do not need to save.<br \/>In order to accurately reproduce the data you created,<br \/>we recommend that you check all of the boxes.<br \/>9 Press the OK button to execute the Save operation.<br \/>If the data fits on one volume of media<br \/>The data will be saved on the specified media, and you<br \/>will return to the Save page.<br \/>If the data does not fit on one volume of media<br \/>(floppy disk)<br \/>The &#8220;No space available on medium&#8221; dialog box will<br \/>appear. <br \/>You can divide the file and save the data on multiple<br \/>volumes of media. If you do not want to divide the<br \/>data, press the Cancel button, and re-save the data on<br \/>media that has more free area or on a different drive.<br \/>1) Make sure that you have a sufficient number of<br \/>floppy disks, and press the OK button. Saving will<br \/>begin.<br \/>2) When the disk is full, the following dialog box will<br \/>appear.<br \/>3) Insert the next floppy disk into the TRITON STUDIO&#8217;s<br \/>floppy disk drive.<br \/>4) Press a function key etc. to make the TRITON STUDIO<br \/>detect the next floppy disk.<br \/>5) Press the Select button. Saving will begin.<br \/>6) If the &#8220;No Space available on medium&#8221; dialog box<br \/>appears again, repeat steps 1)-5).<br \/>If you decide to cancel the Save operation, press the<br \/>Cancel button.<br \/>The dialog box of step 2) will appear. Press the Cancel<br \/>button again.<br \/>The display will ask &#8220;Are you sure?&#8221; Press the OK<br \/>button. This will cancel the Save operation.<br \/>7) When saving is complete, you will return to the<br \/>Save page.<br \/>0 When saving ends and you return to the Save page,<br \/>the LCD screen will show the file that was saved.<br \/>The data will be saved to the media, and you will<br \/>return to the Save page.<br \/>The amount of time required will depend on the<br \/>amount of data.<br \/>If a file with the same name already exists on the<br \/>floppy disk, you will be asked whether you want to<br \/>overwrite. If you wish to overwrite, press the OK button.<br \/>If you wish to save without overwriting, press the<br \/>Cancel button, redo the operation from step 6 , and<br \/>rename the data in step 7 before saving it.<br \/>The show the files that were The various types of data are saved as the following<br \/>files.<br \/>.PCG file<br \/>Programs, combinations, user drum kits, user arpeggio<br \/>patterns, and global settings that were saved in internal<br \/>memory<br \/>.SNG file<br \/>Sequencer songs and cue lists<br \/>.KSC file<br \/>A file which lists the multisamples and samples used<br \/>Directory<br \/>A directory containing the multisamples (.KMP files)<br \/>and samples (.KSF files) that are listed in the .KSC file<br \/>Other ways to save<br \/>In addition to &#8220;Save All,&#8221; the page menu commands<br \/>include a &#8220;Save PCG&#8221; command which saves program,<br \/>combination, drum kit, user arpeggio pattern, and global<br \/>setting data, a &#8220;Save SEQ&#8221; command which saves only<br \/>the sequencer song and cue list data, and a &#8220;Save Sampling<br \/>Data&#8221; command which saves only the multisamples<br \/>and samples . Select the page menu command<br \/>that is appropriate for the data you want to save to<br \/>external media.<br \/>When using &#8220;Save All,&#8221; &#8220;Save PCG &#038; SNG,&#8221; and<br \/>&#8220;Save PCG&#8221; to save combinations, you should also<br \/>remember to save the programs used by each timbre<br \/>(and the drum kits used by the programs) and user<br \/>arpeggio patterns at the same time.<br \/>Similarly when saving programs, you should also<br \/>remember to save the drum kits and user arpeggio<br \/>patterns used by the programs.<br \/>If your programs or drum kits use multisamples and<br \/>samples that were created in on TRITON STUDIO,<br \/>we recommend that you use &#8220;Save All&#8221; to save the<br \/>data.<br \/>When you use &#8220;Save PCG&#8221; or &#8220;Save Sampling Data&#8221;<br \/>to individually save a program or drum kit, or a multisample<br \/>or sample that you created, we recommend<br \/>that you save them under the same filename in the<br \/>same directory.
