The USB3 and Metro 5 work best with Mac OS 9 (9.2.2 preferred)<\/p>\n
A. Setting up the USB3<\/p>\n
1. Connect the USB3 to a USB port on the Mac. One of the built-in USB ports is preferred over a keyboard port or a port on a USB hub.<\/p>\n
2. From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels >>> Sound.<\/p>\n
3. In the Sound control panel, click the “Output” Tab. In the list provided, look for the item “USB Audio”. Click on “USB Audio” to highlight it.<\/p>\n
4. Click the “Input” tab in the Sound control panel. In the list provided, look for the item “Line In” and click to highlight it. Also click the option “Play sound through output device.<\/p>\n
5. If desired, used the “Check Signal Level” option. the meters on screen should show activity if and when audio is sent to the USB3’s line or mic inputs.
* Be sure the “Record Select” switch on the USB3 is set correctly. “MG” if using the Mic\/Guitar input, “Line” if using the line inputs,… etc.<\/p>\n
6. Close the Sound control panel, and the settings will be saved.<\/p>\n
* You should do steps 2-6 each time you want to use Metro. Then you can verify that the USB3 is working correctly with your computer<\/p>\n
B. Setting up Metro 5<\/p>\n
1. After performing the easy install of Metro 5 from the CD provided, find the Cakewalk folder on your hard drive. Locate and open the Metro 5 SE folder and double click the application “Metro 5 SE”<\/p>\n
2. When you launch Metro 5 a “Change Ports” window will appear. If it doesn’t, choose “Change Ports” from the SETUP menu.<\/p>\n
3. Click at least one of the “New Ports” listed in the window to AUDIO. And click OK.<\/p>\n
4. From the SETUP menu, choose “Digital Audio”. Be sure that the “Direct Support” button is checked, and change the box to the right of “Direct Support” to “USB Audio”, and click OK.<\/p>\n
5. The top window in Metro should be labeled “Sec 1 : Untitled”. Click the first item below the “Instruments” column. In the pop-up that appears, choose “Edit Port”. In the “Edit Track Output….” window that appears, choose “AUDIO”<\/p>\n
6. Making sure the “R” record box has a red dot in the top row, play audio into the USB3, and watch the “Levels” display for green activity meters. <\/p>\n
* If you don’t see input on Metro, but led’s are blinking on the USB3, try switching the “Select” “Record Select” and “Sample Rate” switches on the front of the USB3.
