If you are using SPARK or SPARK XL in Classic MacOS, you must first set up OMS if you want to play back VST instruments in the SPARK application. Simply follow these steps:
1) Start Spark
2) In the “Edit” menu, choose “Preferences”. Then select “MIDI”.
Select “Open Setup” and browse to your OMS folder, where you will find your OMS setup or you can create a new setup.
3*) THIS IS ONLY NECESSARY IF YOU HAVEN’T CREATED A SETUP YET!
Create a new Studio Setup (Command+N) and follow the OMS instructions. In this example, let’s say we have a MIDI keyboard connected to port 1 of the MIDI Timepiece AV, that is connected with the Mac via USB.
4) Test Studio Setup (Command+T): This OMS function is the good way to check if your computer (OMS) receives MIDI data from the keyboard: When you hit a key on the keyboard, OMS is playing a sound via Soundmanager (“Music”). At the same time, the arrow in the OMS setup, that marks the connection between the devices will flash.
5) If you don’t get at least one of the indications mentioned in (4), you probably won’t get any MIDI signals in SPARK! Check your MIDI setup and the OMS installation!
6) When you are finished, turn “Test Studio Setup” off.
7) While still in the OMS Setup, select “OMS MIDI Setup” from the “Edit” menu. Check the option “Run MIDI in background”
8) Save your OMS Setup!
9) Return to the Spark application.
10) In Spark’s “MIDI Preferences” menu, select “MIDI Receive” and choose the MIDI Input according to your OMS Setup – in our example, we select the connection on “cable 1”, as our MIDI keyboard is connected to port 1 of the MTP. Exit this window and press OK.
11) Load a VST Instrument like MERCURY 1 or the included SPARK MODULAR plug-ins in the FXmachine and start playback in SPARK. Now, the VST Instrument will receive MIDI data from the keyboard and playback within the SPARK application.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","categories":[],"tags":[],"storecat":[],"itemids":[13621],"manufacturers":[33794],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t\n
