Select a key zone.<br \/>This can be empty, or contain a sample – it doesn’t matter for now.<br \/>2. Use the Sample Browser to add one, or several (see below), sam-ple(<br \/>s).<br \/>The following will happen:<br \/> If the zone contained a sample prior to loading, this will be replaced,<br \/>both in the zone and in the sample memory, unless the sample was<br \/>also used by another key zone, in which case it will be kept.<br \/> If you loaded several samples, one of the samples will be assigned<br \/>to the key zone, and the other samples will be loaded but remain un-assigned.<br \/>Setting the Root Key<br \/>Once you have defined a key zone, and added a sample, you should set the<br \/>root key for the sample.<br \/> Select the key zone the sample belongs to, and click on the key you<br \/>wish to set the root key to.<br \/>Which key to select is normally determined by the pitch of the sample.<br \/>For example if the sample plays a F#2 guitar note, click on F#2.<br \/> Note that it is possible to select a root key outside the key zone, if<br \/>required.<br \/>Removing Sample(s) from a Key Map<br \/> To remove a sample, select the zone it belongs to, and then select<br \/>“Delete Sample” from the Edit or context menus.<br \/>The sample is removed from the zone and from sample memory.<br \/> To remove a sample from a key zone\/map, without removing it from<br \/>memory, you can either select “No Sample” with the Sample knob<br \/>for that zone, or simply replace it with another sample in the same<br \/>way.<br \/>Removing All Unassigned Samples<br \/> To remove all samples that are not assigned to any key zone, select<br \/>Delete Unused Samples from the Edit menu.<br \/>Rearranging Samples in a Key Map<br \/>There is no specific function for rearranging or trading places between sam-ples<br \/>and key zones. Simply select a key zone and change the current sample<br \/>assignment with the Sample knob.<br \/>Setting Sample Level<br \/>For each key zone you can set a volume level, using the Level button below<br \/>the display. If the transition between two key zones causes a noticeable level<br \/>difference, this parameter can be used to balance the levels.<br \/>Tuning Samples<br \/>Sometimes you might find that the samples you wish to use in a key map are<br \/>slightly out of tune with each other. This parameter allows you to tune each<br \/>sample in a map by +\/- half a semitone.<br \/> Select the key zone(s) that contains the out of tune sample(s), and<br \/>use the Tune knob below the keyboard display.<br \/> If all samples originate from different sources, and all or most of<br \/>them are pitched slightly different (a not uncommon sampling sce-nario),<br \/>you could first tune them so that they all match each other,<br \/>and then, if necessary, use the Sample Pitch controls in the Osc<br \/>section to tune them globally to the “song” you wish to use the<br \/>samples in.<br \/> Note that if all the samples were slightly out of tune by the same<br \/>amount in relation to the song you intend to use the samples in, it<br \/>would be much simpler to use the Sample Pitch controls in the Osc<br \/>section directly.<br \/>Looping Samples<br \/>A sample, unlike the cycles of an oscillator for example, is a finite quantity.<br \/>There is a sample start and end. To get samples to play for as long as you<br \/>press down the keys on your keyboard, they need to be looped.<br \/>For this to work properly, you have to first set up two loop points which deter-mine<br \/>the part of the sample that will be looped, and make this a part of the<br \/>audio file. You cannot set loop points in the NN-19, this has to be done in a<br \/>sample editor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","categories":[],"tags":[34716],"storecat":[],"itemids":[11870,28349],"manufacturers":[33641],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v17.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Check out the How do I add a sample to keymap? page at Sweetwater \u2014 the world's leading music technology and instrument retailer!\" \/>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/add-sample-keymap\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"How do I add a sample to keymap? - SweetCare\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"1.
