Testing here at Sweetwater, we were succesful using an MDR24\/96 and a G4 when using Nestcape Communicator 4.7 – – Internet Explorer did NOT work. Here’s what we did to set the MDR and the G4 up:<\/p>\n
1. Connect the two units with a Category 5 Crossover ethernet cable.
2. On the Mac, select Chooser from the Apple Menu & make sure Appletalk is ON.
3. From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels, and select TCP\/IP The TCP\/IP control panel should appear as follows:<\/p>\n
Connect via : Ethernet
Configure : Manually
IP Address : 10.10.28.21 *(one digit higher than the MDR or HDR’s IP address)
Subnet mask : 255.255.0.0 *(same as MDR or HDR’s “Sub” setting in Setup FTP)
Router address: 10.10.10.10 *(same as MDR or HDR’s “Gate” setting in Setup FTP)<\/p>\n
*** to verify the MDR or HDR’s FTP setup, press the SYSTEM button, and choose FTP setup. This is where you will see info on IP addresses etc.<\/p>\n
4. In the MDR or HDR, press System, then set “FTP Turbo” to TURBO (instead of normal).
5. Then press RUN FTP for the Mackie to wait for communication from the Mac<\/p>\n
6. Then close the TCP\/IP control panel on the Mac and launch Netscape. *(if you have to set it up, just breeze through the options for mail servers etc.). In the address field type<\/p>\n
ftp:\/\/10.10.28.20 *(or the IP address of your Mackie HDR\/MDR unit)<\/p>\n
