It is appropriate for burning audio CD’s that don’t require index points, PQ editing, or DAO (Disk At Once). Therefore, please understand Peak 2.0 is **not** a replacement for MasterList CD or JAM unless you are simply burning tracks to CD without a need for indexing, zero-gaps (DAO), ISRC codes, etc. For most users, thisis all they need. There is no “data burning” modes or anything like that in Peak 2.0, but it ships with Toast which can handle several different CD formats.

Peak 2.0 burns your playlist to CD using Adaptec’s Toast software (included at no cost) and Applescript. With new CD burners arriving daily, we felt it would be a disservice to our users to support only a few drives. So we “outsourced” the actual CD burning to Toast, which works very well, and supports a huge number of drives. As new drives come out, you simply update your copy of Toast and Peak 2.0 will continue to integrate the playlist-to-audio CD burning feature. We’ve attached the current supported drive list for Toast 3.5.4 at the end of this post.

If you are in the other category of audio CD burning, where you need to burn audio CDs with indexing, ISRC codes, preemphasis, PQ editing, etc., then we recommend you use either MLCD or JAM. Both of these products are highly capable of accomplishing the aforementioned tasks.

Peak 2.0 integrates with JAM very well. You simply bounce your playlist directly to a JAM image file with the gap times, effects, xfades intact and open this image file in JAM to burn. Remember, you can use up to 4 realtime DSP effects (Premiere format) per playlist event in Peak.

The following information is from the Toast 3.5.4 Read Me document and was written by Adaptec. For the most current list of supported drives, please see Adaptec’s website at: http://cdr.adaptec.com/cgi-bin/cdrmain.cgi

Here is a partial list of drives supported by Adaptec Toast:

Acer CR-1420C
Acer CRW620
Creative CDR2000
DataDisc CDR-2X
DynaTek CDM-4000
Grundig CDR 100 IPW
Hightech CD-R2000
HP CD-Writer 6020
HP SureStore 4020
JVC XR-W1001
JVC XR-W2001
JVC XR-W2010
JVC XR-W2020
JVC XR-W2040
Kodak PCD Writer 200
Kodak PCD Writer 225
Kodak PCD Writer 600
Mitsubishi CDR4X12
Mitsubishi CDR4X12T
Mitsubishi CDRW226
Mitsubishi CDVR2X6
Mitsubishi CDVR4X4
Mitsubishi CDVR4X6
Mitsumi CD-R CR-240
NOMAI 680RW
Olympus Deltis CD-R2
Olympus CD-R2X4
Olympus CD-R2x6
Optima Diskovery 650
Optima Diskovery CD-R 1300
Panasonic LK-MW602
Panasonic CW-7501
Panasonic CW-7502
Philips CDD2000
Philips CDD2600
Philips CDD3600 CD-R/RW
Philips CDD521
Philips CDD522
Philips OMNIWRITER 26
Pinnacle RCD 5020
Pinnacle RCD 5040
Pinnacle RCD-1000
Pinnacle RCD-202
Pinnacle RCD4X4
Pinnacle RCD4X12
Pinnacle RCDW226
Pioneer CD-ROM Writer DW-S114X
Plasmon CDR4220
Plasmon CDR4240
Plasmon RF4100/4102
Plextor PX-R24CS
Plextor PlexWriter CD-R
Ricoh CD-RW MP6200S
Ricoh CD-RW MP6201S
Ricoh RO-1420C
Ricoh RO1060C
Ricoh RS-9200CD
Smart & Friendly CD-R4012
Smart and Friendly CD-R 2004
Smart and Friendly CD-R 2006
Smart & Friendly CD-R2006 Plus
Smart & Friendly CD-RW 226
Sanyo CRD-R24S
Sony CDU920S/921S
Sony CDU924S
Sony CDU926S
Sony CDU948S
Sony CDW-900E
Taiyo Yuden EW-50
TEAC CD-R50S
TEAC CD-R55S
Traxdata CDR4120
Wearnes Peripherals CDR-432
Wearnes Peripherals CDR-632
Yamaha CDR100
Yamaha CDR102
Yamaha CDR200
Yamaha CDR400
Yamaha CDRW2260
Yamaha CDRW4260

If you don’t find your drive in this list, just run Toast to see if it recognizes your drive as one of the above.
