Finale Speedy Entry: Entering Tuplets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this guide, we will show you how to use Finale\u2019s Speedy Entry tool to enter tuplets. Follow the instructions below to get started.

Enter standard tuplets<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Select the Speedy Entry tool in Finale and click on a measure. <\/li>
  2. To enter a tuplet where all three notes have the same duration, press Ctrl+3<\/strong>, then enter the three notes (or rests). <\/li>
  3. The number 3<\/strong> will appear in the upper right hand corner of the editing frame to indicate an upcoming tuplet.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Enter advanced tuplets<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you\u2019d like to use Finale\u2019s Speedy Entry tool to create a tuplet where the durations vary, for example an eighth note tuplet made up of a quarter note followed by an eighth note, enter the duration of the tuplet (not the first note) <\/em>first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Press Ctrl+3 and enter an eighth note (this will designate an eighth note tuplet).<\/li>
    2. Next press the left-arrow key and then the 5 key to change the eighth note to a quarter note (without changing the tuplet definition).<\/li>
    3. Finally, enter an eighth note to complete the tuplet.
