You will need to create a folder called ‘Unity DS-1 ASIO Drivers’ in the Extensions folder. Copy the ASIO drivers you want to use into this folder. To configure the DS-1 for ASIO output, open the Unity DS-1 control panel and select ASIO as the output type. You can select either stereo (stereo output duplicated on output pairs 1\/2, 3\/4, etc.), or individual mono (MIDI channels 1, 2, … output on the individual outputs), or individual stereo (MIDI channels 1,2, … output in stereo on the pairs of outputs) mode. Press the setup button to get to the Setup dialog, where the appropriate ASIO driver is selected. You also can call up the ASIO driver’s control panel with the ‘ASIO Control Panel’ button. Note, that not all ASIO drivers support a control panel in this manner.<\/p>\n
MOTU 2408 Users Note!
The MOTU 2408\/1224 uses a PCI-324 driver that needs to have its ASIO driver in a folder named ‘ASIO Drivers’. Therefore, for 2408 ASIO users, you will have to put the PCI-324 ASIO driver in a folder named ‘ASIO Drivers’ in the Extensions folder. Make an alias of this ‘ASIO Drivers’ folder in the Extensions folder called ‘Unity DS-1 ASIO Drivers’. Now everyone’s a happy camper.<\/p>\n
There is a cool feature in the PCI-324 Console where you can set the output buffer size to 64, 128, 256, 512, etc. When using ASIO output, the Unity DS-1 will use this recommended buffer size optimally. Lower buffer sizes mean lower latency (that is, faster response time).
