{"id":11950,"date":"2001-09-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2001-09-24T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/?p=11950"},"modified":"2007-04-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-04-27T00:00:00","slug":"what-need-set-mac-g4-up-for-protools","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/what-need-set-mac-g4-up-for-protools\/","title":{"rendered":"What do I need to do to set my mac G4 up for ProTools?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With MAC shutdown, install hardware ,startup , then :<\/p>\n<p>1.First back up any Data that is important!<\/p>\n<p>2.Start your Mac off of a Mac OS 9.1 (or later) Installer CD.<\/p>\n<p>3.Launch Drive Setup .(found in the &#8220;Utilities&#8221; folder on the Mac CD)<\/p>\n<p>4.Initialize the MAC HD.<\/p>\n<p>5.Name the new &#8220;Untitled&#8221; HD , &#8220;MAC HD&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>6.Do a &#8220;Easy Install&#8221;  of the Mac OS on the Mac HD.<\/p>\n<p>7.Restart when completed.(eject CD when you can)<\/p>\n<p>8.Now make Appletalk  &#8220;inactive&#8221; (in the Chooser) , Set your Energy Control Panel to &#8220;Never&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>9.Go to the Extensions Manager , choose &#8220;Mac OS 9.x Base Set&#8221;.<br \/>Duplicate it and name it &#8220;ProTools&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>10.Now Restart.<\/p>\n<p>11.Insert the Protools CD, install OMS and Restart.<\/p>\n<p>12.Now install ProTools to the Mac HD , then Restart.<\/p>\n<p>13.Thats it! Launch ProTools and Start recording!
