First, plug the TRS side of the Y-insert cable into one of the main insert jacks.  Then you will have 2 mono _&#8221; cables dangling there.  One should say tip (or send) and the other should say ring (or return).  Plug the end that says tip into the input of the compressor.  Next, connect a standard balanced or unbalanced cable from the output of the compressor to the input of the EQ.  Finally connect the other mono _&#8221; end of the insert cable to the output of the EQ. Repeat the entire process for the other main insert jack.
