There are several options for moving, copying, and backing up files from one drive to another in Windows:
The most common method of moving files or folders from one hard drive to another would be to right-click on the source file or folder and choose copy or cut from the menu. The file or folder will now be ready to move. You can now open the destination hard drive’s drive letter from My Computer or Windows Explorer and then right-click on an empty area of the drive or folder and choose paste from the menu.
Note: If you choose the copy option, the original file or folder will remain on the source drive and be copied to the destination drive when you paste it there. If you choose the cut option, the original file or folder will be removed from the source drive and be moved to the destination drive when you paste it there.
There are many commercially available software programs that you can use to backup your whole hard drive or only your data. These programs can usually be used to backup onto any hard drive. However, we recommend that you check with the software vendor before buying any utility software, to ensure that the program will accomplish what you are trying to do.
Sweetwater uses the Acronis program for our Creation Stations for backup and restore functions. The OEM version included on our Creation Stations does entitle owners to upgrade to a full version of Acronis at a discounted rate.
