If the FaderPort motorized fader is not working, or when you push buttons on the FaderPort and nothing happens in Sonar (but you can click items in Sonar, and the FaderPort buttons light), then follow the steps below:
1. Download and install the Faderport 1.2 installer here, and do the firmware update:
(if you get any messages about a newer version exists, overwrite the version anyway)
2. Once installed, click Start and type cmd, then right click on the program CMD and choose run as administrator.
Type in the following, including the quotations and spaces:
regsvr32 “C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces\faderport.dll”
You should receive a message that it was successful. Now you can launch Sonar.
Click Edit -> Preferences -> Midi Devices -> and check the FaderPort in input and output.
Click Edit -> Preferences -> Midi Control Surfaces -> click the yellow star at the top right to create a new surface -> choose Presonus FaderPort as the controller and choose Faderport for input/output.
Click Edit -> Preferences -> Playback and Recording on the midi section -> Check the boxes for key aftertouch and channel aftertouch.
Click OK, and test out the FaderPort. It should now work with Sonar X1.
