Joemeek is a company that makes some of the best products without requiring a large sum of money, and their new twinQ surely doesn't disappoint! To have two channels of mic pre with a full-featured EQ and compressor section is amazing, but to then have built-in A/D conversion on-top of that - it's an incredible value. But value doesn't have to mean "to settle". The Joemeek twinQ has excellent punch and warmth, yet very clean as well.
Joe Meek Twin Q
Very clean, but warm at the same time. The "iron" setting really opens up the top end. EQ is surprisingly good, and the compressor can be transparent, but is really good at being "in your face". I would say there is probably nothing better at this price point. They have a winner on their hands here.
not for me
This channel has everything you can dream of for under $1000. For Bass DI this sounded great! But I just couldn't get the results I wanted on vocals. The compressor is very touchy and aggressive, and the a/d conversion did not beat out my profire 2626. The EQ get a thumbs up. The iron does add some color. These pre may be better suited for guitars or drums but for hip-hop vocals I just couldn't get down with it.
