I've owned my m801 since 2006. I bought it to do remote recordings of a classical opera singer I was working with. This is an incredible piece of gear, it is built like a tank and produces pristine uncolored sound with incredible dynamics and extremely low noise.
Besides recording the opera singer I would mic her piano and organ accompaniment with the m801 and my collection of vintage AKG microphones. We recorded this to an HD24 running at 96k and received many many compliments on the 3D character the sound had.
The dual output jacks are very handy too. I would run an output directly to the recorder and a second output to my monitor console so I could hear and solo the sounds without fear of damaging the master location recording.
If you want one of the best sounding preamps in the world today buy the Grace Design m801.
Good luck and good music to all!
