The latest from Grace Designs!

Built with an absolute commitment to audio performance and reliability, the Grace m201 is truly a timeless combination of art and technology. Using the same critically acclaimed circuitry as the now-classic model 801 eight-channel microphone preamplifier, the m201 delivers stunning audio performance in a 2-channel package. The m201 uses a fully balanced, transformerless design with a fast, musical transimpedance amplifier architecture. No electrolytic capacitors are present in the signal path and its high current output section is able to drive extremely long cable runs (up to 1,500 feet). The m201 is poised to become a legend in its own right!

Grace Designs m201 Features:
  • 2U, 19" rack mount chassis
  • Fully balanced signal path from start to finish
  • Dynamic range improvement of up to 3dB over the model 201
  • Can drive audio lines that can reach upwards of 1,500 feet without audio quality loss
  • Dedicated ribbon microphone mode shifts the preamplifier's entire gain range up 10dB while deactivating 48V phantom power and bypassing the coupling capacitors
  • Dedicated DI (Direct Inject) circuit
  • Mid + side decoder matrix with dedicated outputs on the rear panel
  • Each channel includes two outputs wired in parallel
  • 5 year limited warranty on parts and labor

remarkably clean

This preamp is beautifully clean. Its almost like getting all new mics. The ribbon mode sounds amazing - some dynamic mics seem to sound much better through it, too. I would say there is definitely an advantage to the somewhat higher than usuaul input impedances (8.1 K and 20K for ribbon mode!). This amp's output is clean and open. What goes in is pretty much what comes out, but with gain. I hear very little coloring of the source. Things sit nicely in the mix, and can take a little eq nicely. Don't wait - buy one now! I sat on the fence for quite a while - it was my mistake!

Search no longer, the Grace M201 is IT!!!

The first time I heard Grace Mic pre's was in the 90's, the 801 to be exact, and I have always been blown away by the incredible accuracy and spaciousness of the Grace pre's. I also consulted with other engineers and studios who love the transparency, openness and shimmering clarity of this pre. It absolutely phenomenal, if you are wondering what to get, wonder no more! This pre is IT,THE FINAL WORD! In my opinion, nothing else comes close in value, features and sound, I can't believe what this thing contains in one package. Also, when people see it...they say.."Wow, that's a nice looking piece". In fact every wants to touch it, it looks and sounds like the Mercedes,BMW, Cadillac of gear, and it is! Get it, you won't regret it!!

This is the one!

If you need an all around coverage preamp that works for everything from DI Bass, ribbon mic and dynamic. This is the one you should get. It has the clarity and openess you'd expect from Grace. It will not paint you in a corner. You get what your source provides. You can manipulate from there

Sweetwater Advice

Kenny Bergle

Beautifully clear and clean with tons of headroom (and even up to 70dB in the 'ibbon mode), this Grace preamp is no exception to the wonderful build-quality and audio excellence of the whole Grace line. This 2-channel version goes well with any mic (where one wants clear, transparent, un-colored results), one of my favs to use with this pre is the Royer SF-24 stereo ribbon. Also Mike and Eben and all the Grace employees are super with supporting Sweetwater customers. Love their stuff!
