    Beautiful sound design tool

Although it's simple enough to learn completely in an hour or two, the interface is powerful, and allows you to shape sounds in an incredibly intuitive way. A pleasure to work with. That and the huge sample library make iris worth the very reasonable price.

    So easy, so powerfull!

I love this synth. It really is super easy to get up and running. I have worked with other sample based synth that can be hard to get the sound the way it is on your head, but not with Iris.

There's a lot of features under the hood, such as a great delay and pretty solid reverb. LFO gives a wide array of options to add a nice pulse to your sound. And the mixer is an easy way to get the layers molded together.

I recommend this synth more than ANY OTHER sample based synth on the market. It will change the way you make music.

    Izotope Iris

I've never worked with a synth this easy to program new sounds with. You often hear how a synth is intuitive to work with and you're left sitting in front of your computer scratching your head trying to figure out how it works. With Iris, you just dive in and start creating. I'm having so much fun making my own sounds that I haven't really heard many of the presets yet! It's a joy to work with and you won't be disappointed if you get it.

    HAVE FUN!!

    Iris Saves The Day

I am currently working on a film where the sound design is crucial to creating just the right animal sound effect and voice inflections. I had been searching around for some time and read about iZotope Iris.

I have to say, it has been just the right tool for the job and we have some very happy post-production crew.

    Boring, but with great potential

I bought it, because of the initial deal they offered, knowing that this synth has huge potential. But the actual voice architecture is boring as hell, once you get beyond the spectral portion. The whole synth architecture is actually even more than boring, it's pathetic. Stuff that you'd expect to see on a VST synth 3 years ago are not even there. So that part of it is a definitely 1 star. However, the spectral painting part of it is pretty damn awesome, so it averages out to 3 stars for me. If iZotope decided to invest in this plugin with more power on the post-sample end of the design, this could become something truly epic. Otherwise... it's just boring, but with great potential. And potential never paid any bills.

Like a lot of software there is a learning curve, I thought this software would be easier to integrate into my system. Still working on it.

Virtual synthesizers have opened up an amazing world of new possibilities to musicians. Case in point: iZotope's revolutionary Iris virtual instrument -- you've never seen (or heard) a synth like this before!

What sets Iris apart is that it can load nearly any sound file. Iris then analyzes the file and provides graphical tools for transforming the sound into something completely new! You want easy? Load a sound, drag your mouse across the screen, and get an entirely new sound! Based on the amazing spectral processing found in iZotope's RX software, this graphical editing is super powerful -- and fun!

The result can range from gentle pads to evolving textures to filter sweeps to hybrid instruments to isolated harmonics to completely new clouds of sound. Iris comes with a 4GB/500-preset library, and you can import any audio file you like. Plus, iZotope has already created two expansion libraries: Glass and Wood. Each contains a wide array of intriguing, inspiring, and useful sounds.

Iris is a powerful, brand-new approach to synthesis, and it has completely won me over. It's fast, easy, and fun, but don't assume that makes it a toy. This is a serious synthesis tool anyone can use to create signature sounds.
