Works on the iPhone 7 Plus & iPadPro
The exact quality of audio you expect to get from a Rode mic and it works on the iPhone 7 and iPadPro too. The mic comes with several hard rubber jaws that fit various models of the iPhone. The one for the 6/6Plus will also work on the iphone 7/7Plus and the iPadPro. You will need to modify the rubber jaw slightly where it overmolds over the home button on the phone so you can have access to it but if you call Rode they will talk you though the process.
Always on Me
I do a lot of sound design, and I love sampling field recordings to create natural textures in my music. I bought a Zoom H4N with the intention of always having it with me, but try fitting that thing in your pocket! It was never convenient enough to take with me, so I never have it on me. This thing clips onto my belt, with an included windscreen in the case, and it's ALWAYS on me.
They say the best camera you have is the one you have on you, and the same goes for microphones in my case for the purpose of field recording. By the way, it sounds just as good as the H4N, if not better.

iXY-L Stereo Mic Sounds Great on my iPhone 6 Plus & iPad Air 2
The iXY-L sounds great and is solidly built. A well thought out design for live recording in various situations.
I love that RODE included a foam wind filter and a robust carrying case.
It's very easy to swap out the pre-installed clamp to accommodate different sizes of iPhones. The larger clamp allowed me to slide the microphone into the lightning connector on my iPhone 6 Plus without having to remove the Apple Silicone Case.
You'll need to download and install the free or paid version of the RODE Rec app to avoid having a pop up on your iOS device every time you plug in the mic.
I much prefer the new Apogee MetaRecorder app and the RODE iXY-L works perfectly with it.
Thank-You Sweetwater for making it so convenient and affordable to have the latest and greatest music technology in my hands. I'll be recording with the RODE iXY-L this Saturday night and I'm stoked!
