High-performance Thunderbolt 3 Expander
Powerfully capable equipment is a must-have for serious gamers and audio/video engineers alike, and that's where the Sonnett Technologies eGFX Breakaway Box 350 comes in. This Thunderbolt 3 expansion chassis provides GPU support for graphics-heavy apps and games, as well as for high-resolution multichannel audio editing and video post-production. The Breakaway accommodates one full-length, full-height, double-width PCIe card and supports 120mm water block coolers, which enable higher overclocking for even better GPU performance. But even without a water block cooler, the Breakaway's variable-speed temperature-controlled fan is effective and yet nearly silent, making it suitable for low-noise environments like music studios and post-production facilities. All of the Breakaway's next-level features are housed in a sleek aluminum body, and the Breakaway is Mac OS and Windows compatible. Plus, it can even charge laptops requiring up to 15W of power!
Computer connectivity for just about any Thunderbolt 3-compatible PCIe card
The eGFX Breakaway Box 350 lets you connect any supported GPU card to your eGFX-compatible computer that is Thunderbolt 3-equipped. Examples of supported cards include popular GPU chipsets like the AMD Radeon R9 and RX and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 7, 9, and 10 series. It also works with other Thunderbolt 3-compatible cards like RED ROCKET-X or Avid Pro Tools|HDX. The Breakaway features an x16 PCIe slot that supports up to full-length, full-height, double-width PCIe cards.
Quiet, cool operation like no other
With a huge variable-speed temperature-controlled fan, you might expect the Breakaway to cause noise issues in your work environment, but you'll be pleasantly surprised. Sonnet claims the eGFX Breakaway Box is quieter and cooler than any other eGFX box out there. You can rest assured that your studio control room or mixing room will maintain its low noise floor, resulting in cleaner, clearer audio. Plus, the eGFX Breakaway is engineered so you can replace the system fan with a radiator/fan assembly to accommodate a card with a 120mm water block cooler, for near-noiseless audio production.
Power for your card and for your laptop
The Breakaway features one 8-pin (6+2 pin) power connector to supply up to 300W of power for greedy bandwidth-intensive graphics cards. It also has a second 6-pin power connector, and Sweetwater customers will appreciate that it can send up to 15W of power to charge your laptop, as well. No need to make space on that already-full power strip!
