A Portable Grand with both Educational and Advanced Features!

Yamaha's YPG-235 adds to their popular Portable Grand Series — and it's packed with a host of great features, especially given its modest price. There's a 6-track sequencer onboard for immediate song-building, as well as a music database of 267 setups, listed by song title to get your creativity flowing — plus it uses Flash ROM memory, so you can easily download more songs to your YPG-235. Its 76-key design gives you enough keys to express yourself but helps keep it light enough to carry anywhere your music takes you. Plus, it has a USB connection so you can easily use the Yamaha YPG-235 with your computer.

Plenty of great features for songwriting

You'll enjoy the YPG-235's onboard 6-track sequencer — great for capturing moments of inspiration and building onto them right away. The YPG-235's Easy Song Arranger feature actually allows you to remix MIDI files so you can play them your own way, while the YPG has 489 quality XGlite/GM voices for even more expressive playing. You can use layer and split modes to further enhance your sound — playing bass notes with your left hand, and controlling a string section with your right! Once you've gotten the parts sequenced perfectly, you can easily save the song to your computer via USB — or just pop in a portable USB thumb drive, and you can take your project with you in your pocket!

Educational tools right onboard

This YPG-235 features the Yamaha Education Suite, which gives you interactive lessons to develop your piano skills and even monitors your progress. It has 30 internal songs, with 70 more on CD, so you can play along with more challenging pieces while practicing your playing "in time." Its Flash ROM memory also lets you download more songs — and you can even connect a USB thumb drive to the YPG-235 to add your favorite MIDI songs so you can then learn them using the Education Suite!

A great piano for all levels of players

From beginners to the most seasoned players, the YPG-235 is a great go-to portable piano. It has a pitch bend wheel and a sustain pedal jack that allow for expressive playing, as well as 5 types of preset Master EQ for sculpting the right tone from its 489 voices. 2-way stereo speakers, complete with bass ports, are right onboard so you can get playing immediately, and it also a headphone jack for times when noise might be an issue.

It's awesome and I even haven't scratched the surface. I have so much more to learn but I love it. I'll be buying a bass next. Dante

What else can be said after: I love this keyboard!

There was a 46 year span between my going back to playing the keyboard...saw the yPG-235...liked the price, read the reviews and I bought the instrument. Wow and Wow...what a keyboard. Love everything it offers. The sound is beyond wonderful. I do use a bass Ampeg amp....the amp you chose to use makes all the difference when it comes to thow he keyboard sounds. The afore mentioned amp is my ticket to sounding awesome. I play both in bands and I do solo gigs. If you are looking for a fun keyboard with lots of personality, give this one a try.
Music background: all styles of music, depends on the band or the solo gig

This was a keyboard that has all of the bell's and whistle's for of an upper price and feature's of a more expensive keyboard. I am a pro bass player. Before I even got to read the product information book, the sound's just blew me away.
Music background: Pro musician for many groups as the Spinners and many other's.

Yamaha YPG-235

This keyboard is an absolutely wonderful instrument. I purchased it primarily as a piano because of its' superb sound, very similar to a full-size studio unit. It has much the same touch as any piano I have ever played. Key size is the same, or very close to the same size as standard pianos. I accommodate the 76 keys, rather than the 88 on standard pianos; no problems with that. The built-in metronome is a plus when trying to learn and maintain a certain beat. As far as all the other "bells and whistles"; that's just a plus. It is fun to see what it's capable of doing.
Music background: Lifetime of piano, guitar (bluegrass), vocals, percussion
