Performance synthesizer

The Casio XW-G1 is a powerful six oscillator monophonic solo synth that is ready to gig. You can combine all six oscillators to make a single tone. You get two virtual analog style oscillators, two PCM oscillators, one noise oscillator, and one external oscillator for use with line and mic inputs. Each oscillator has their own filter, portamento, envelopes, key tracking, a master resonant filter, and two LFOs. The XW-G1 is an extremely powerful synth that lets you really edit and tweak each setting. You also have access to the original CZ synthesizer's waveforms.

Sample, Sample, Sample

DJs and dance music performers will love the sampler built into the Casio XW-G1. The 19-second looper lets you capture and use internal and external sounds via mic and line inputs. Create layers and overdubs on the fly to give your performance a whole new level of cool. Your samples can be saved in Flash ROM for use later.

It's a what, you bought it why?

First off, I own a TI-2 Virus 61 key... I have so much fun on this Casio. From playing drums on it, yes it has usable drums sets,,, with tweeking knobs,,,, to big deep bass sounds. Fun danceable music just flows from this thing. I have it connected to a micro korg for extra crazy sound... The only downside on this, people who haven't heard it, ask why I bought it!

Casio XW-G1

Great keyboard! Unmatched value ... sounds and capability way beyond anything else for the price. Total rig includes it's brother, the Casio XW-P1. These two combined make an impossible to beat setup!

Casio XW-G1

This synth is an odd duck. There are no dynamic filters (where the sound gets brighter with velocity) or even proper global filters, except for the mono synth. You can only have reverb and one digital effect going simultaneously. The MIDI controller changes freeze up sometimes so you have to reset the sounds by turning the power off and on. However, the step sequencer is quite useable, and the phrase sequencer is good for unquantized parts. It's fun, if limited, to program, and it has a real groove factor with the sample looper.

Not Built to Last

The Casio XW-G1 sound good and is relatively easy to program. I would NOT take it anywhere, though. In the short time I've owned it, 2 sliders and 1 knob have gone AWOL and not the output jack is wobbly and creates a horrible hum. I really take care of my equipment and it has been transported in the back seat of my car - no abuse here. It's just unfortunately fragile and therefore not a gigging keyboard.
