A Gig-ready Wireless System from Sennheiser

The Sennheiser XS Wireless 2-865 is an easy-to-use all-in-one lavalier mic set. Even though it's a breeze to use, a plethora of useful options are available via the XSW 2-865's LCD display. True diversity and 12 compatible channels ensure smooth operation, even under tough live stage conditions. And setup is a snap, thanks to automatic frequency management and remote synchronization. This set includes a handheld transmitter with Sennheiser's popular e865 capsule — famous for its extended dynamic response, pronounced presence, and vocal punch. The receiver's metal housing and the handheld transmitter's sweat-resistant design make the XSW 2-865 a durable, gig-ready wireless system.

XS Wireless 2 systems offer simplicity, flexibility, and durability

XS Wireless 2 systems offer tons of flexibility, but remain easy to operate. At Sweetwater, we're impressed by how quickly you can get up and running with these systems. You can use the LCD display on the receiver to manually configure your channel, although automatic frequency management and remote synchronization are still on tap. True diversity operation ensures smooth performance without dropouts. XSW 2 systems are built for the road — receivers are encased in metal and bodypack transmitters and mics are sweat-resistant. And they sound great. When you fire up one of these systems, you can expect pounding bass, crisp treble, and low-noise without acoustic feedback..

e865 capsule exhibits excellent onstage performance

The Sennheiser XSW 2-865 is outfitted with an e865 capsule. For a great all-around stage mic, you can't beat the e865. It utilizes the very best in condenser microphone technology to achieve new standards of quality and sound. Its supercardioid pickup pattern yields superior feedback and off-axis rejection. It exhibits extended dynamic response, pronounced presence, and vocal punch. And its SPL handling is second to none. You'll also appreciate its resistance to handling noise.

Sennheiser — exceptional sound quality and reliability

The Sennheiser name is synonymous with wired and wireless microphones, complete wireless systems, and studio-grade headphones. For example, guitarists worldwide know that the e609 and e906 dynamic microphones sound outstanding with pretty much any guitar amplifier, and their ruggedness makes them perfect for live use. The MD 421 dynamic mic is known by studio engineers to be a flexible solution for vocals, drums, amps and bass cabinets, with high SPL handling and excellent transient response. Onstage, artists know that when they're handed an e865, e935, e945 or other Sennheiser vocal microphone, they can expect studio-quality reproduction and excellent resistance to feedback. And in the world of wireless microphone systems, Sennheiser's evolution wireless systems give you the ability to set up many simultaneous wireless channels without interference.

Sennheiser XSW 2-865 Features:

  • Easy-to-use all-in-one handheld wireless set
  • Delivers pounding bass, crisp treble, and low-noise without acoustic feedback
  • Access a plethora of useful options via a front-panel LCD display
  • True diversity and up to 12 compatible channels in a stable UHF band

GREAT SOUNDING MIC
First of all, I would like to say, this mic is VERY IMPRESSIVE for the affordable price!
This sounds like an expensive mic. The 865 capsule is very clear and detailed. I've run two of these mics almost 100ft away from the receiver and had zero wireless issues or dropouts. The build quality of the mic itself is a little light...not quite as hefty as the EW Series, but as long as you're not throwing them around the stage, you should be totally fine! This is also a great mic for singers who may have tiredness in their voice, and it gives a boost to your voice without having to boost your own voice too high.
I would highly recommend this mic to anyone who is looking for an quality sounding mic at affordable price.

Impressive Mic!
This mic is IMPRESSIVE especially for the price! Honestly, to me, this sounds like it costs twice as much as it does. The 865 capsule is very clear and detailed. I've run two of these mics almost 50ft away from the receiver and had zero wireless issues or dropouts. The build quality of the mic itself is a little light...not quite as hefty as the G series, but as long as you're not throwing them around the stage, you should be totally fine! 10/10 would recommend.

Sennheiser XSW 2-865 Wireless Handheld Microphone System
I needed a wireless hand-held mic on stage for speakers to come up and deliver short spoken addresses in the middle of music sets. My options where between the XSW systems and the ew100 g3 systems.

ew100 g3 stuff is built for throwing out of helicopters and for conducting concerts in war zones I think. Crazy heavy duty durability with lots of user controls for fine tuning the set up to be used in environments where there is a lot of interference or lots of other wireless systems in play. But really though....that mic is built like a medieval weapon of war....extremely robust engineering and sure to last for several centuries of combat. It sets up easy and has a nice sound with good richness thanks to the much beloved 835 capsule, the contender for gold against the Shure sm58.

BUT I DIDN'T GO WITH THAT MIC, even though it's great.

The reason I went with the xsw2 system is that I was able to achieve greater sound quality at less cost without sacrificing too much durability and user control. The xsw is all about ease of use and quick set up, but that creates problems when fine tuning is necessary. Fortunately, the xsw TWO version gives you enough user control to get yourself out of sticky interference situations. As for durability, you probably can't defeat a fully armored opponent by bludgeoning him into submission with the xsw handhelds....they are plastic, not weapons grade plutonium or whatever like the g3's. That being said, the mic is sufficiently sound feeling in the hand and I have a felling that it can withstand a drop or two. Being lighter and more flexible in construction may even, theoretically, prove to be a plus in an impact! For good measure, I thew a foam windscreen on the end.
But the REAL reason I went for the xsw2 is that I could get it with the 865 mic capsule -- an upgrade from the 835. And you can make that jump for less money than you would otherwise be able to in the ew100 g3 or g4 realm. And that 865 is sure nice! I enjoyed the greater clarity in the mid to upper mid range and feel that it was more responsive....just a great sounding mic for speaking and singing. It really sits nicely in a full band mix.

So at the end of the day, the xsw2 equipped with the 865 mic gave me a crystal clear sound that was better than the ew100 g3 equipped with the 835 mic... and did it for less money. Less user controls in the xsw? Yes. Less durability? Yes.....theoretically. But since I have composed and calm people "vocalizing" into the mic and not gladiators trying to kill lions with it, I think it will stand up to usage just fine!

Anyways, hopefully this helps if you are on the fence about the xsw2 and whether or not a step up the price ladder is worth it or not. For me, the step wasn't worth it and the xsw cut it just fine. For you, maybe not....maybe you need all the user control known to man and the durability of a mic that feels like it was forged in the heart mount doom or a dying star or something....if that's you look for the g3's and g4's. Happy miking!

A GREAT Sounding MIC!
This is a great sounding condenser microphone for the price! I purchased 4 of these about a month ago. I also own a Shure Beta 87 Wireless condenser as well. They are VERY close in producing the same sound quality but the Sennheiser is a fraction of the price. The only negative I have found is that these are pretty prone to frequency interference's, which can cause set up and sound check to be a bit drug out at times. Other than that, Sennheiser has created a GREAT sounding, quality condenser mic at an affordable price!
