    Fantastic

I hadn't played my turntable in years due to the fact that the needle was broken. When I received my new Shure Whitelabel Cartridge I played some old 45's that I have and let me tell you. It brought back some good memories!

    An excellent replacement!

I've been using Stanton cartridges on m old Yamaha YPD turntable for decades, and was disappointed when they were no longer in production. Shure has been around since before I was born, and I wasn't too anxious about changing over, so I took the plunge.

These have exceeded my expectations, very fine workmanship, excellent tracking, handling big transients flawlessly. I hope these are available for a long time to come!

I only went for 4.5 as I'm kind of passed being wow-ed...

    Good Enough Sound Right Price

Bought this to replace the junk on the Numark TTUSB. Easy install. I'm no audiophile so I'm grading this on performance and what "I" can hear (the Army got some of my hearing). Compared to what was on there, it's a keeper. It weighs a lot more than the junk that came with it, so this is how I set it up. I installed cartridge and put weight all the way forward. I then began playing on an older decent RUSH album, and would let it play for a minute or so. I then backed off weight 1/2 gram at a time until I got a skate or lifting of the cartridge from the back (skating). At this point I set the scale on the turntable to zero. I then added 1.5 grams to the tone arm. I believe 2 grams is recommended downforce, but I believe less is more in this case because I think this thing is pretty beefy. Has worked great ever since with no skating or skipping. Great deal for $70. Made a unusable turntable into an acceptable player. I hope this helps those who want to throw their Numark TT into the trash. Try this. If it doesn't work send it back then throw it in the trash!!!!

    My thoughts

I bought this cartridge to replace the lousy gt cartridge I had on my TT Usb turntable. I wanted to get the M44-7 but it was not available at the time and I had to get rid of the gt. This was an amazing upgrade from the gt. I bought 2 plx 1000 turntables and decided to grab the m44-7s as a pair instead of buying another whitelabel because I wanted to see the difference.
    Shure M44-7 > Shure Whitelabel
In my opinion, but it's a pretty clear cut easy decision for me to make. Obviously the Whitelabel looks better and is easier to use since there is no assembly required, but that's where it stops. The M44-7 is cheaper, louder, and has a fuller sound... and I really like the fact that there is a build in guard for the stylus. More money does equate to being a better product and these m44-7's prove that to me. There's a few videos on YouTube that allows you to hear the difference of the two, I suggest you check them out. All in all, I think the whitelabel is definitely a good needle. However if I were you I would pick the m44-7 over this 10 out of 10 times.
