Best amp I've ever owned
I have played professionally for almost 20 years. For 12 of those years I worked in a boutique guitar shop. So needless to say I have had many many amps. Everything from vintage Mesa and Marshall to modern Bogners and Splawns. I play a wide range of music from classic rock and blues to heavy metal. I purchased the Whiskey after talking with Dan Boul (super nice an very helpful guy!) about needing an amp for my country coverband project. I needed something versatile that would do the boutique cleans but get crunchy for the more modern stuff. He suggested the whiskey so I purchased the 50 watt head and matching 2x12. I was BLOWN AWAY! The first live show I couldn't believe how warm, clean and responsive the tone was. The clean channel is very clean with tons of headroom. There is only 1 knob which is all you need. It's pure clean heaven! The dirty channel you need to turn up to around 4 to match the clean on 1. This is perfect for the sweet spot in the tone. The dirty channel has tons of low end and midrange that can be dialed in to whatever you desire. Another fantastic feature is the effects loop in this amp. It works flawlessly at the perfect level and is quiet and transparent. The biggest surprise with this am was when I took it to my heavy metal bands practice and plugged it into a 4x12. It has a decent amount of gain by itself but when you hit it with an overdrive it is a heavy metal machine. The Whiskey is truly the most amazing, inspiring and unique amp I have ever owned. I cannot say enough good things about it.
