WFLIII 1728N Series Limited Edition Maple Snare Drum - 6.5 x 14 inch - Gloss Natural with Gold Hardware Reviews
This particular snare. the 6.5x14 maple/poplar/maple shell w/maple reinforcing hoops, a slightly rounded hand sanded bearing edge top and bottom,as well as a hand sanded snare bed, with state of the art machined aluminum lugs featuring the "III" in the middle, and no inserts, 2.3mm steel triple flange hoops, superior quality german snare wires, and a multi -position Trick throw off and butt end, this snare drum screams of the kind of features you would expect from a Legend in drum making. And it sounds fantastic. the 3 ply shell has the brightness and crack you would expect from maple when tuned fairly high, but that poplar ply and the rounded bearing edge help give it some warmth when tuned medium to low tension. The multi position throw off enables you to have several tone choices by the move of the throw lever to various positions, as well as controlling the snare tension with the knob. With an Evans G14 on top and a hazy 300 on bottom. WFLIII has in my opinion brought back that wonderful tone we all have come to love, and has upped the bar for US made drums. Love ya B3!!!!!!!

Maple / Mahogany with top and bottom support rings is the key to this well constructed Snare Drum.
This designed along with the right head combinations, will allow you use this one sane drum for about any type of music.Great in the studio setting, and sounds fantastic live.
I also want to mention to the collectors out there, each drum is numbered with a total production of 50, Hand Signed by Bill Ludwig the III...As far as I'm concerned this is one of the best sounding Snare Drums I've ever played.
