Works as advertized, sounds good but adds noize

This new Next Step line of product is very cool. There is no delay between the action and the effect. It works as well as a mechanical pedal. I also like the adjustment, It allows to expand or reduce the motion so you can work out the perfect sweet spot and change the range of the action...sort of. However this unit needs some improvements ot be used on stage. Definitely not recommanded for recording purposes. Go with another passive unit instead. Electro-Harmonix honestly advertize this as a buffered bypass, not a tru bypass. What this means is that your sound is ALWAYS affedcted by this unit regardless it's on or off... Hmmm. but you will never hear a loud click when it's turned on or off. Also When you turn it on, a loud noize appears, and it's quite obvious even with a bass guitar cab without tweeter. The sound seems Ok, but the fact it's not true bypass, we cannot compare the tone before and after turning the unit on. I cannot comment on signal loss or swallen signal but I know for a fact that some units such as the BBE Sounic Maximizer swallow the tone and the low end when the unit is turned off, so I have mixed feelings about buffered bypass. I use it with Bass Guitar though and did not notice any significant tone or low end loss. The fact that it throws out so much noize makes me question rather or not Electro Harmonix actually designed this unit or if they spin an OEM product. Electro Harmonix engineers know better then loud noize in professional equipment signal path...right? I owned 20+ effect pedals so far for guitar and bass and never encountered a unit causing so much noize. Anyway, for what I plan to do with this, I will keep it because I really like the motion and I may use it with one or two songs on stage and the induced noize is not dramatic for this applicaiton. However, I will not keep it in the signal path during an entire set, only for that song, due to that loud noize and the buffered bypass.

Total Crap

This pedal works with some EH stomp boxes, but it doesn't work with the BOSS Dynamic Wah and it doesn't work with the Fulltone WahFull... so what good is an expression pedal unless it works as... an expression pedal. Very disappointed, especially since I'm stuck with a piece of junk I cannot use.
