The Access Virus TI2 Desktop has such high quality, intense sounds, they'll shake the ground you walk on. Soon, the word "VIRUS" will dominate your every thought and dream. Never before has a synthesizer brought such dark evil and heavenly bliss to your sonic palette. It's time to seriously invest in your sound. Access Virus is the 8th wonder of the world it is capable of destroying. The sooner you get one in your studio, the sooner you will realize this is the only synth you need.
Virus hardware synthesizers are awesome. They are musically and sonically infectious. A must-have synth for those who seek huge sound and sonic bliss for all the electronic music genres.
Forget about computer integration-since 2012
Bought one back in 2012. Has no been glitch free since...they certainly make enough money off of selling these at about 12x production cost to fix any bugs and release a working interface, but hey thats Access.
BTW it also takes on average 3 weeks for them to reply to "tickets" because there are so many of them to address. I had a problem with my juno DI display- spoke with roland the same day sent the broken synth to them and got a new one back in 4 days.
This thing sounds incredible and it works perfect with Ableton. I called Sweetwater tech support to help me with an issue I was having (User error) and within a few minutes I was up and going. The plugin is absolutely amazing.
- Endless possibilities
- Endless presets
- Amazing Sounds
- Great Arp Patterns
A very solid addition to my studio
First and most important this synth sounds awesome. It sounds like no other I've owned or heard, it's sound is unique definitely more laid back and mellow. Different is good. It is so packed with features and sounds I can't hardly get through more than a few patches without stopping and playing and then I end up recording. I don't know if I ever in this life will even get through all the factory patches. So in short the sounds this produces sound not only hifi but they are inspirational and make you want to make music.
I bought this thing mostly because the whole idea of TI seems like a dream. Just plug in a USB cord and you are done. I don't lose any inputs on my interface hooking up another outboard synth and it behaves just like a plug in. Right? Sort of. To clarify this is how it works. You can open it like a plug in but you are limited to only one input channel through your DAW so you can't just keep opening multiple instances of this and have full access to everything like separate effects and EQ for a channel. You can run it in multi mode from one input channel on the DAW and then patch through to each individual MIDI channel in the multi on the Virus. So really you have to effect and EQ from the DAW all sounds coming out of the Virus on only one channel. The gain and pan for each MIDI channel in the Virus is controlled within the Virus. Even if this synth could only play one sound at a time I'd take it, the sound are that good. But the dream of full blown integration is not perfect but it kind of works. It's also a little buggy but has basically stayed working for me.
One more thing to mention. I had been trying to get some help from Sweetwater to understand how to get this to work in mulit. I wasn't getting anywhere and after a couple of weeks I just emailed Access directly. They emailed me back in 5 minutes! no joke 5 minutes with an explanation as well as an Ableton Live 9 tutorial that shows just how to run the Virus TI in multi in Live 9. I had read somewhere that the Virus guys had good customer service. No kidding.
So to sum it up here with this synth you are getting a true beast of sound possibilities. The dream of total integration is not perfect but pretty much works. If they could ever get this to be able to open multiple instances on their own tracks in a DAW this thing would be a dream come true.
If you're looking for that electro house sound similar to Deadmau5 this is pretty much it. Goto synth for plucky sounds, pads, arps, and dance basses. This is by far the easiest and most inspring synth I've ever used. It just has that three dimensional shiny Virus sound!
This synth doesn't sound like software.
This is one sick puppy, indeed.I was on the fence for the longest, but I finally made the plunge a few months ago.I wanted to step up the game and gradute from soft synths to hardware.I'm now glad I did, sure the purchase stung a bit,but it has stepped up my game with Ableton Live to a new Realm,I never would've thought was possible.
Well, alot of people on the fourms say the Virus sounds like software, hahahaha. This is a porky pie,and when they say that it makes you wonder about their music credentials,my take:bedroom dweller envy. They're the experts, but they always fale to recomend a piece of software that out does the Virus hahaha, like I said pure envy. The Virus doesn't sound better than analog, just different.Don't get me wroung,it can come close to the analog sound, but thats not what it was desinged to do.The Virus is like a mocking bird, you see,and it mocks everything else, quite well.I can pretty much emulate anything in the synth World, and it does it quite well.Jexus on youtube, does a wonderful improv/80s balad with the Virus synth, you should check it out.My final conclusion on analog:the Virus sounds like it's in the middle of digital and analog domain land. This is because of it's onboard effects.Once you get the hang of it,you can get very close to analog.Besides, the Virus sounds better than analog IMHO.Usually it's the other way around with a VA Synth, but this isn't the case with the Virus.Only an analog purist would be offended by the Virus and feel threatened.Oh,the CD vs Vinyl argument lol.Well,it's the same fight.
I'd say the Virus is a great Workstaion to start with.It has uses on every genre of music, and like I said before does any emulation very well.I decided to add a Slim Phatty to tag along with the Virus, and it's been a match made in heaven, because they adore each other.
The set up was easy:install the disc, plug in the Virus to usb,and find the Virus in your Ableton Live VST folder. The Virus is the only synth that acts like a software synth. The Virus is total daw intergration, unlike any other, because it uses it's onboard dsp,so it doesn't drain your computers resorces. This comes in handy if you use daw effects that rely on your pc for power.I added a UAD solo 1 card,to give me just a tad bit more overhead, with my massive ammount of plug ins.
Sweetwater, was the place to buy the Virus.I recived expert help and customer support. Also they gave me an extension on my factory warranty by one year. They will fix my Virus for an additional year, after the factory warranty goes out.The Virus is built like a tank, but that extra perk added a peace of mind to my purchase.
If you're looking for the best sounding Synth to make music,by the Virus from Sweetwater.I love helping great companys grow.
One of the best purchases I've made
This thing is absolutely limitless. It comes packed with a large array of presets to allow quick familiarity, but that's just the beginning. It's beyond expansive.
The sound quality is superb and easily sits pretty well in many mixes simply as is. I never find myself battling with it.
What really blew me away though is how responsive Access is to its clientele. I can honestly say this has been one of the best purchases I've made.
if you are wanting one get it. if you want something else get this. why dont you have one? you should get one.
solid hardware. great support(you will need to get on the internet grampa!)
and my sales engineer sounded genuinly jealous that i ordered one. haha steven!
p.s. i am just a factory worker who fiddles with music... i didnt settle for a lot of cheap gear i went with the ferrari... save your money. buy quality. you wont be disappointed.
