Vintage Bass Overdrive with Tons of Control

The Darkglass Vintage Deluxe bass preamp pedal serves up the tube-like tone of the company's Vintage Microtubes and offers new features such as active 4-band equalization, parallel outputs, and a balanced line driver. If you're looking to supercharge your bass tone with the natural dynamics and organic compression of vintage tube amplifiers and tape machines in a compact package that fits in your gig bag, Sweetwater recommends the Darkglass Vintage Deluxe bass preamp pedal.

Grunt, Attack, 4-band EQ, and Blend

In addition to Level and Drive controls, the Darkglass Vintage Deluxe bass preamp pedal gives you four secret weapons. The Grunt switch lets you select the amount of low-frequency content to be saturated with three LF-boost levels before the clipping stage. The Attack switch, conversely, lets you set the amount of high-frequency content to be saturated. With the switch set to Boost, you emphasize treble content for optimized presence and clarity. The Flat setting leaves highs untouched, while the Cut position reduces the amount of high frequencies to be saturated. By giving you control over the treble portion of your signal, the Vintage Deluxe lets you compensate for variables like new bass strings or tweeter-equipped cabinets. To shape your tone to perfection, there's onboard 4-band EQ that offers 12dB of boost or cut at 100Hz, 500Hz, 1.5kHz, and 5kHz. Lastly, for instant onboard parallel processing, the Vintage Deluxe offers a Blend control that mixes the clean input and effected overdrive signals.

Finally, a pedal that roars but still sounds like my bass.

This pedal roars! This is it! Tone after tone after tone! After 40 years of searching for that elusive sound that I can hear in my head but never quite articulate, I have found the real Holy Grail of Bass distortion/overdrive pedals. Would you like to recreate the sound of Jack Bruce? How about John Paul Jones? Tony Levin maybe? They are all in here. I have just spent an hour with this pedal and still not scratched the surface of the different tones that I can get. It is worth buying the pedal for the EQ alone but once you dial in the distortion on top it is Nirvana. With minor tweaks to this pedal you can turn your own amp into many of the best Vintage Amps of all times. All of the bass distortion/overdrive pedals that I have owned sound like a pedal. Just a pedal. And they always screw up the sound of my bass Not this one. It only enhances your tone. It sounds like a giant stack of speakers while leaving your walls still standing. Yes, it is expensive but don’t waste your money time after time only to be disappointed. Get this once and be done. Call David Hess and order one today. He will always do his best to help you make the right decisions when buying new gear. Thank you David and thank you Sweetwater.
