This amp is an incredible buy. It has amazing tone quality and the reverb is excellent. I have used many amps over the years (66yrs old) and have been playing since high school. This amp has as good sound qualities as any I have ever used. I don't usually play any distortion type guitar, so I can only review the clean side and light lead. This amp is very easy to use and finding the right tone was easy. Seems well made to me. The 50/12/2 watt feature is very cool. I only use tube combo amps.

great amp, great price, great service

Let me start off by saying I play a lot and I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to guitars and amps but I'm not the greatest guitarist. I played an Epiphone SG with this amp. It took me a while to get the tone the way I wanted it but once I did it was exactly what I was hoping for. It has nice bluesy tone on the clean channel and there is plenty of gain for me with some to spare (I don't play any metal just modern and classic rock) I had a much better guitarist play on this and I wasn't disappointed with the amp at all. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a tube amp at a reasonable price that will play anywhere from practicing at an apartment to playing a bar room sized gig. I'd like to throw in Sweetwater did amazing with the customer support. My customer support rep Jimmy Hart was awesome!

    Great Do It All Amp

Is this a Fender clean; no, but it gets very close. Is it a higher gain 5150ish; no, but it could be with a boost pedal. This is an everything in between amp and does a very good job of getting a variety of tones and good clean sounds. I play classic/blues/jazz to contemporary/rock/metal and I feel this amp covers a lot of ground. I wasn't to impressed with it when I first plugged it in because the bass control didn't seem to add or subtract much when adjusted. I plugged it in to my 4x12 cab and what a difference. Not only was the bass more responsive but the mids and highs were better balanced (speaker definitely needs time to brake in). The 2watt set up is great at a low bedroom setting but it doesn't take much to push the tubes past break up at that setting. The 12watt setting is where I have left it for practicing and it sounds great. Haven't needed to push it to the 50watt just yet so I cant comment on that setting. Having the speaker bypass for recording/USB is a definite plus. Everything seems to work as advertised and as usual Sweetwater has been great to work with.

The tone is great for blues, rock, hard rock, blues-rock. You will need a pedal to play metal.
I rated it a 3 because the amp is cheaply made. The small cheesy chicken head knobs and switches are half the standard size. The amp feels like it was made from reinforced cardboard. If this amp was ever dropped, it would probably break into 10 pieces! For the price I expected it to be standard construction not second- rate. The switch for 50/12/2 watts is a nice feature that made me buy it to begin with. Also the tube monitor lights are another nice feature. I would have given it a 5 if the construction was sturdy and the switches and chicken heads knobs were standard size. I will get a Fender Hot Rod Deville, Marshall combo or Egnator Tweaker 40 when this amp bites the dust. Hope I don't drop this puppy!

    Good Tones, bad footswich

Love the tones but there is a brief (half second) delay when you use the footswitch to switch from clean to gain channel. Annoying when you are going for that musical impact, hit the gain channel and.....nothing.
