The V- Piano and me was love at first sight! No other stage piano looks so darn good. I think Roland took some inspiration from the Rhodes design. Agree with previous reviewer also, you'll need some quality monitors to really enjoy the stunning sound of this piano. But in lieu of that you could get hold of a pair of Roland RH-5 Digital Piano headphones or similar. Its obviously billed as a stage piano and it certainly is sturdy and with that heavy. Though the brushed aluminium "hood" is VERY prone to finger marks and smudges. And though the wooden side panels are opulent they same to be made of quite soft wood which may dent or chip easily. But having said all that it looks so awesome and just gorgeous! The keys are very high quality I really think you wont find better with action and escapement etc. And also as previous reviewer pointed out it gets you really thinking about what a piano sound really means, what it is, and what it could be. You can emulate ANY piano thats previously been manufactured because its so editable, so far as a "piano" goes there are no boundaries, other than your time and effort :) So, to close: I know this piano is very expensive but really if you find one at a great price (and they are around) buy this piano! WELL DONE ROLAND *****
ps. This piano is heavy make sure you get a PROPER stage piano stand. My first stand collapsed with the piano on it haha! But no worries its fine :) Roland do one for about 65 pounds. the official stand is like 345 pounds

    Gets better and better

I purchased this piano almost a year ago because I was doing a lot more acoustic type music and I had no space for the grand piano I wanted and because I thought it would be more flexible than an upright. This piano is very enjoyable to play. I've always enjoyed the way this piano plays and was 'more than content' with the way it sounded.

I did a session in a studio recently with a Steinway that sounded very good to me in the studio. When I listened to the tracks back home, something about them sounded well, not quite right. I decided to import the pro tools session into logic to try laying the tracks down with the v-piano, running xlr into my metric halo converters. Wow. Now the session was coming alive. I then started playing with the editing software to tweak the resonance and tuning. This piano can be almost anything you want it to be in terms of character. I love this piano for recording now. There's a great studio close to me with a great engineer. The one thing that always bothered me about it was the piano. He has a Yamaha C7 that's quite brittle sounding and a little one dimensional. I can now do more sessions there or anywhere now since I can get the piano just the way I want it or in ways I'd never considered.

This is, in my opinion, the most playable digital piano on the market. It is however, at the mercy of the sound system you play it through since it has no sound system of its own. That being said, with it's xlr outputs, is the easiest piano to record and by far the most flexible. I am exploring things I had not considered before with a piano and the creative possibilities are really amazing. I am in love with my v-piano now and it's growing.
