D-Link was the weak link of my home studio
Being that I bought this product off of Sweetwater and it had good reviews, I expected this thing to serve me well. And it did. It ran my audio interface, my midi keyboards, my iLok, and my mouse. It worked great... for about 4 months. The problems with this device started with my keyboard. When I would turn on my keyboard it would work for about 1 minute before my computer would cease to recieve the midi data from it. Sometimes it would work fine, but other times I would just have to try and try again. Then, most recently, after 5 months of owning this USB hub, the audio in my interface started distorting and crackling. You would think that because it was sold on a music technology site that it would be able to withstand the heat of a rather basic home studio, but apparently not. Admittedly, one USB hub is not a good sample size to say that all of D-Links products are bad, or even that their 7-port usb hub is bad. All I can say is that it was bad for me and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're just using it to charge a phone and use a mouse. I'm sure those things would work perfectly fine.
