Kala U-Bass, Fretted - Bubinga Reviews
The Kala U-Bass sets a new sonic standard for travel-sized instruments. It's tuned in traditional bass tuning and sized to fit into the overhead compartment of an airplane, yet it's packed with thick, rich acoustic bass tone. Many bassists insist the U-Bass offers tones extremely close to the sound of an upright bass. What's the secret behind this portable, affordable bass's rich sound? It's the combination of the gorgeous solid bubinga body, a solid mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and a rosewood bridge.

Kala MY-Bass!
Got mine a few days ago, had band rehearsal(all acoustic group), and I'm highly impressed! The band was even impressed with this lil'uke bass that packs good tone a low end. Sure, it's not the sound of a real electric, or even upright, but it comes pretty close. It kinda sounds like a tubby P, but that's my ears. Loved that it came with Hipshots, and it's own gigbag. I was a little disappointed that the battery isn't a standard 9V, but no real biggie. I wish that it was loud enough for acoustic jams(no amps), because I'd use this every time, which I'd give it a 4.0 rating, but I'm realistic. I know it's novelty/appeal. I have an actual acoustic/electric bass that does the job, and does well, for jams. I still may incorporate it into our set as my main bass, and use my 5-string ABG for the drop D tunings, and such(two guitarists that capo all over the dang fretboard). :( Anyways, I pretty happy with my new axe, or hatchet(for it's size). Lol. I love the Bubinga look. I had a German Warwick with that wood and loved it's tone. It's actually more convenient thang bringing my ABG to practice. I may have to invest in an small combo that can handle the lows. Looks like I'm gonna be making another call to my awesome Sales Rep, Derek Senestraro! LMAO!
