Custom transformer enhances your tubes' performance

65amps worked with Mercury Magnetics to create a custom transformer for the Tupelo tube combo amp. The the goal was to make modern tubes sound more like vintage tubes. A nice benefit of this is that the tubes run more reliably and don't need to be replaced as often as other amps require. So, the Tupelo gives you the sound of a classic late '50s/early '60s American amplifier with modern reliability and performance.

Master Voltage control lets you cut volume without killing tone

Thanks to the Tupelo's Master Voltage control, you can get the output volume you need without risking the tone or feel of your amp. As opposed to many in-amp voltage-reduction systems, which simply starve the power tubes, the Tupelo's Master Voltage control preserves the internal tube relationships while maintaining the proper filament voltage. This unique approach to voltage control lets you pull your output power all the way down to 3 watts without jeopardizing your sound or dynamics and providing you with ideal note-for-note articulation at whatever volume you need.

65amps: awesome amplifiers made by guitarists, for guitarists

The founders of 65amps, Dan Boul and Peter Stroud, are a couple of accomplished guitarists who turned to their passion for guitar tone when they created amplifiers such as this Tupelo combo amp. Drawing from Stroud's extensive experience onstage with Sheryl Crow, 65amps came about as an attempt to create roadworthy guitar amplifiers capable of keeping stage volume low while providing the rich and complex sound of full-sized amps. Since hitting the scene in 2002, 65amps models including the Tupelo have made their way into the rigs of guitarists such as Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Peter Frampton, Vince Gill, and Keith Urban.

65amps Tupelo 20-watt Tube Combo Amplifier Features:

Great Tone

From clean to crunch, this amp is everything I have always wanted in an amp. Was expecting a lot after watching the videos, and I was VERY pleased with the sounds. The Tupelo has a commanding tone that creates all the 60's and 70's tones I had been searching for. The tremolo is gritty sweet. Pure vintage sounds. Sounds great with my 85 LP Custom and my Reverend Buckshot.

Big, rich, and beautiful tone!

This is by far the best sounding amp I've ever owned. Always having other musicians coming up to me after the shows to ask my what kind of amp I'm using. I look forward to playing on my Tupelo at every gig. Absolutely the best!

Great tremo

The sound of the tremo, especially when the amp is slightly distorted, is like liquid Jesus. I stop short of 5 stars only because it's not as quiet as the literature suggests; even w master voltage all the way down, I was expecting volume settings down to acoustic guitar volumes. That said, the tone of this amp is the best I've heard and its extraordinarily well built. I rarely use my Mesa Blue Angel except for the reverb. Gibsons and Fenders sound great and their character comes through phenomenally well. I recommend this amp and this brand; so much better than Marshall's, Fenders, Mesas. Lower noise floor too.

Best sounding guitar amplifier I have ever owned

Was looking for a gig-worthy amp that was tube driven, portable, lightweight, and well constructed. I wanted classic 50's-60's tweed cleans, but with some British crunch and distortion. It basically had to do justice to my vintage reissue Gibsons and Fenders, but also serve up some hard rock tones when doing modern covers. I didn't want my distortion coming from a pedal, so I knew it was not going to be an easy task to find this "best of both worlds" amp. Well, this is it. The Tupelo has 20 screaming watts, plenty loud to hear over your drummer and band, plenty loud to hear in the club, and no one will ever ask you to turn down. But, if you must, the master voltage control on this amp works like an attenuator, and you can keep your cranked-up tone at bedroom friendly levels. This is a 1 channel amp but super versatile. There aren't a lot of controls, just volume, tone, a smooth switch (which acts like a gain boost and is great for matching guitars to the amp) and a footswitchable bump control (which makes it seem like you're kicking on a second overdrive channel). You can cover a lot of ground in a simple fashion. I can get Twin-like cleans and Plexi-like distortion. The amp also has a great tremolo (also footswitchable)....very pulsing and rich. Overall, I can't say enough great things about this amp. It's hand-wired and boutique quality. I've since sold my Marshall JCM800 and Carvin Legacy. I've dropped the Tweed from my want-list. The Tupelo has it all.
