Attenuate Your Amp, Record Direct with Speaker Emulation, and More

Play your tube amplifier at neighbor-friendly volume levels, or play without a speaker cabinet at all, with the Two Notes Torpedo Captor reactive load box, direct box, attenuator and speaker simulator. Based on the acclaimed Torpedo Reload, the Torpedo Captor is your solution for attenuating your amp's volume as well as sending your tone direct to a PA or recording system. Suitable for amps up to 100 watts, the Torpedo Captor's -20dB attenuator allows for cranked-amp tones at lower volume levels. And built-in speaker simulation allows you to record the full sonic intensity of your amplifier direct to your DAW, without miking up a speaker cabinet.

Get cranked-amp tones at reasonable volume levels

Whether you want to keep stage volume down, or desire quieter recording sessions without sacrificing your amp's tone, the Two Notes Torpedo Captor is an outstanding solution. Put it between your tube amplifier head and your speaker cabinet, and you'll be able to crank your amp while attenuating its output by -20dB.

A smart tool for a variety of stage setups and gig situations

You can use the Torpedo Captor without any attenuation as well — at that point it becomes a simple solution for splitting your guitar tone, driving a speaker cab at full volume onstage while also allowing you to inject speaker-emulated tone direct to a PA or recording device. The analog speaker emulation in Torpedo Captor is derived from the acclaimed Le Preamp series of pedals, known for their detailed and focused speaker cab simulations. You can even add a Torpedo C.A.B. to create a massive collection of different IR Cab Simulations — call Sweetwater to learn more.

Wall of Sound III plug-in for sonic flexibility after recording

When you get the Torpedo Captor, you'll also gain access to the free Wall of Sound III plug-in offering 16 IR Cab Sims, covering everything from compact speakers to full stacks. Record your amplifier through the Torpedo Captor to your DAW while bypassing the built-in speaker simulation, then use the Wall of Sound III plug-in to fine-tune the speaker simulation with control over virtual microphone type, mic placement and more. You'll have more control over your tone during mixdown.

Two Notes Torpedo Captor Features:

  • Reactive load box, direct box, attenuator and speaker emulation for electric guitar amps (4 ohm)
  • 100-watt reactive load box allows you to play your guitar amp without a speaker cabinet
  • -20dB attenuator allows you to achieve cranked-amp tone at lower volume levels
  • Speaker simulation is perfect for sending your amp's tone direct to a PA or recording device
  • Speaker Thru allows you to connect direct and to a speaker cabinet simultaneously
  • Wall of Sound III cabinet model plug-in lets you achieve true-to-life studio miking of your amp within your DAW

My Captor Has Made Me Love My Amp Again

I've had one of these since last August and it has totally performed as advertised. Has it allowed me to capture my amp's sound as I record directly into my computer DAW? No problem. Does it let me crank my amp a little more at home without annoying the neighbors? Absolutely. Yeah, it does all that stuff and more at a very decent price. It's fantastic. Now, I just wanted to report that it also does one other (possibly unintended) thing I've never seen documented anywhere else — it quiets down my noisy amp! I happen to have one of the older "Custom" Vibrolux Reverb amps from Fender and these particular amps have a well-deserved reputation for being noisy, and mine is no exception. Anyway, to make a long story short, my Captor pretty much eliminates the crazy hiss from this amp when I'm using it in the attenuation mode. It's crazy. I have no idea why or how this is happening. It just is, and I'm very happy. So, not only does the Captor do what it's supposed to do, it has made my old CVR much more useable. I've stopped thinking about replacing it. Thanks, Two Notes!

Magical black box

I've have a vintage Vibrolux, and using this has enabled me for the first time to hear amp in all it's glory without worrying about the original Jensen speakers, or my eardrums. Still haven't used the line out yet, but did get the speaker sim DI going after a bit of fiddling. Really love it.

Best addition I’ve made

This thing is a game changer for my workflow. Living in a house with my 10 month old, I needed something that would let me fill my neurotic desire to use my amp on every song. The Wall of Sound plugin allowed me to achieve the same tone as my Supro Royal Reverb does on its own. Coupled with the -20db attenuation, I can easily blend the DI/speaker sim track with the live track all while my child remains undisturbed. Really a great value for the price, most versatile piece of equipment I own.

So Good! Ty James M

After some (hour) setting up this Captor rocks. The wall of sound is outstanding and fun. Check it out. Keep th great times at a low volume. Record with amps and mics you didn"t spend $1,000s on.

Fenders combo,s friend

I think this is a great product, I have a couple of 4 ohm Fender combo,s of vintage descent and with the Captor, I can hear them again loud and proud (with headphones or using the -20db attenuator) without waking the neighbors. The only problem I,ve found is not with the unit itself, but with the selection of IR,s that are available for Fender combo,s like 10 and 12 inch speaker models. The Captor, is solid as a rock and made for just that, ROCK and ROLL or anything in between! Enjoy boys and girls, just make sure to use a speaker cable from amp and not a guitar cable.
Music background: It,s not the wrong note, just the wrong moment in time
