Two Distortion Modes and Five-band EQ

The Mesa/Boogie Throttle Box EQ distortion pedal serves up two distinct distortion modes, and tops it off with the sonic-sculpting power of a five-band graphic EQ. You've got footswitch control over the two distortion modes, so you can turn on extra tonal tenacity when you're playing live. A popular feature among Sweetwater guitarists is that you can assign the five-band EQ to either or both channels, giving you a wide range of tone in a single pedal. Factor in the powerful mid-cut and boost controls, and you're ready to dial in virtually any distortion tone with the Mesa/Boogie Throttle Box EQ.

Great for tight sounding metal tone

Huge range with the 5 band EQ. I use it for a great sounding metal tone that is really tight. If you want to tighten your sound and get away from over saturated distortion pedals, this is what you want. Also, it's built like a tank, very good quality and solid.

I play through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10. It's a great amp with an excellent clean channel. and while I wouldn't say the drive channel is bad...I wouldn't call it great either. It's a bit thin sounding, and doesn't really have enough gain for any modern rock or metal music. So I did my homework, and I gave this Mesa/Boogie pedal a shot. WOW. I could go on and on and on about how great this pedal is, but I'll just cut to the chase and say if you want a monster pedal that is able to give you plenty of gain and thump, just spend the money and buy this one.'s expensive for a distortion/overdrive pedal. But it's so worth it. I've played with alot of drive pedals over the years, and there are lots of great ones out there...this one laughs at them. It's also built like it's bulletproof and the EQ adds a very valuable touch of versatility.. Just buy it and you will forget all about how much you spent on it after you play through it for 10 minutes.

AWESOME Sounding Distortion

I recently changed my whole rig from a Mesa Boogie Road King, which has 4 channels: 2 clean & 2 distored, to a Fender Twin Reverb. The Fenders cleans are great, but I still wanted that Mesa Boogie sound. Plug this pedal in and struck an A chord and let it sustain. First thing I noticed was how powerful the sound was. Not only that, the chord sustained for longer than I previous hear from my Road King amp! This pedal created such a strong and heavy sound, that I realized I had to "tame" the sound and dial my ideal distortion in (Rock / Lead). Ive played 2 shows with this pedal and every time I turn it on, by band looks over at me and goes "DAMN! THAT SOUNDS GOOD!". It really exactly what I was hoping for, I'm blown away and couldn't be happier.

Throttle Box EQ

nice sounding distortion peddle, nice design, the high/low switch is excellent gives you a lot of control over the equalization, gives you two distortion tones to work with, at different levels and equilizations; one of the screws on the back stripped when i tried to replaced the battery, not thrilled about that but i should be able to get it out; would have been nice to get a power supply with it;
