    Superb guitar for the price.

I like Thinline Telecasters and always wanted a red one but they were either hard to find or expensive custom models. Well, not any more! Fender has produced an affordable, well made thinline in these Mexican made Deluxe models. Fit, finish and craftsmanship are excellent at least for the guitar I bought. It was good right out the box, no set-up required. The noiseless pickups sound good to my ear and allow a broad range of tones from mellow jazz to country twang. I really like the locking tuners--makes string changing really fast. Highly recommended!

    Wonderful telecaster

This is a really great guitar. Always wanted a tele in CAR and maple fretboard. The 12 radius is very comfortable for bends and chording.

Despite the noiseless pickups, I get quite a lot of him unless touching a metal component. However I do live in a noisy apartment which probably contributes to it. The guitar is not shielded and I imagine attempting to change that would be very difficult since, like a 335, both sides of the body are chambered and are deep. Even so, the pickups are nice sounding. Compared to my solid tele with fralin Blues specials, it can hold its own in terms of sound. More vintage vibe, but nonetheless very nice and takes to OD and distortion well (just keep your hand on the metal).

I also dig that the fretboard is not gloss, but satin. Kind of like rosewood feel, but with maple sound. Really nice touch. Plus, I don't have to worry about nicking finish when fret dressing later on.

The guitar is similar to the American deluxe thinlines from a few years ago, built a mere 100 miles away in Mexico for $1000 less. Excellent value for build quality and choice of parts.

Note: I did have to return the first one due to a poorly seated dot inlay, but this was quickly and easily corrected with an exchange from Sweetwater. Customer service is top notch which is always appreciated.

    Not Good

The guitar looked nice in the pictures but....

The guitar came to me with a bad grounding issue. It buzzed extremely loud and then became lower when I grabbed the neck and covered the strings with my hand. The bridge plate was sticking up off the guitar body in front of the bridge pickup. It had a small black dirt mark on the front of the guitar under the finish. Also the 4 way switch is way too close to the volume knob when you engage the bridge pickup...Fender's fault.

I did ship the guitar back. I was not happy to receive this one.
