American-made quality at an unbeatable price

Fender's American Special Series exists to do one thing: give you access to genuine US-made Fenders at unbeatable prices. The American Special Telecaster gives you a great selection of cool Tele features, including a supremely playable maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and jumbo frets, two Texas Special single-coils, and Fender's innovative Greasebucket tone control. All in all, it's quite a potent music-delivery system. And it's made right here in the USA, in Fender's state-of-the-art Corona, California, factory.

Cut through the mix

You're sure to cut through the mix, thanks to a duo of Fender's Texas Special single-coils. These pickups give you classic tones that have been with us since the dawn of the Tele. But these pickups have a little something extra that sets the American Special Tele apart from previous Tele incarnations: Fender's way-cool Greasebucket tone circuit! If you're looking for an American-made Tele with unbeatable bang for the buck, then you need the American Special Telecaster.

Greasebucket tone control rolls off highs without affecting volume

Fender has fitted the American Special Telecaster with their proprietary Greasebucket tone control. With this system you're able to take the bite off of single-coils or get the "Woman Tone" without making your sound too muddy. The Greasebucket is designed to evenly rolls off highs without adding bass or affecting your volume. It gives you explicit control over your tone onstage without your having to compensate for a less-than-ideal sound.

Sweet, Toneful Tele

First, let me say I'm not what you'd call a "Fender Guy", when it comes to guitars. Having said that, I have a Strat that I love, even though it took me many years to find one that was a keeper. Ditto for Telecasters, but I found that keeper a month ago with this American Special, three-tone sunburst with a rosewood fretboard. To say it exceeded my expectations is an understatement, to the point it has become my "Number 1" over the Strat, a Les Paul, a Carvin and an Epi ES-339. The neck is much thinner than I'm used to, but I adapted to it quickly. This neck is very fast. Also a first for me after 50-plus years of playing guitar are the jumbo frets.I like them. A LOT!!!!! And they make bends and general playing super fast and greasy easy. The Texas Special pickups work exceptionally well in this Tele. Great tone and punch and clarity. Very musical. I had them in an earlier Strat I once owned and was not impressed. In this Tele, they kick butt. This a very full-sounding guitar (think "meat 'n' taters" guitar. Solid, tight, chunky low end with sweet highs (not ice-picky at all). I am so glad I gave this one a try. Truly a fun guitar to play and a genuine keeper.
