A Tele with the Best of Yesterday and Today

The Fender American Professional Telecaster solidbody electric guitar has been crafted to give you the best design elements from classic vintage Teles, along with the most popular modern features, in one gig-ready instrument. Tim Shaw designed the two V-mod single-coil pickups for a vintage voice that is balanced across all the switch positions. And Fender's popular neck carve has been enhanced to a Deep-C profile that increases playing comfort. With all the elements that make Fender guitars legendary, the Fender American Professional Telecaster is a classic that will feel right at home in your hands.

Balanced, vintage-voiced electronics

A great set of vintage Tele single-coil pickups should sound crystal clear, perfectly reflect your playing dynamics, and be able to get gritty and aggressive when needed. Pickup guru Tim Shaw designed this set of V-Mod single-coils to do just that. But unlike vintage pickups, the V-Mod single-coils are crafted with different alnico magnets in both pickups. This means you'll enjoy consistent output across all the three pickup positions. And the onboard treble bleed circuit ensures your tone stays clear and present when lowering the guitar's volume.

Custom Shop-influenced neck

The Deep-C neck profile that you'll find on the Fender American Professional Telecaster solidbody electric guitar is a slight upgrade from the Fender American neck players have been in love with for years. By adding a touch more roundness to the back, the Deep-C carve fills your hand perfectly while never inhibiting your playing technique. And your fingers will immediately notice how much control they have on the fretboard's narrow-tall frets. This fret wire is the most requested size at the Fender Custom Shop, and for good reason.

Compensated brass bridge

Another way the Fender American Professional Telecaster blends the best of old and new is its bridge design. Back are the three brass-barrel saddles that helped imbue vintage Teles with their unmistakable twang. But this guitar's brass saddles are compensated to achieve flawless intonation all the way up and down the fretboard. And the "ashtray" bridge plate is designed to give your picking hand plenty of room, even while palm muting.

Fender American Professional Telecaster Features:

  • A Telecaster design that blends the best of modern and vintage construction
  • Clear-sounding ash body
  • Maple neck with comfortable Deep-C profile
  • 2 Shaw-designed V-Mod single-coil pickups are balanced across the positions
  • Narrow-tall frets are the most requested size in the Fender Custom Shop
  • 3 compensated brass-barrel string saddles
  • Comfortable 9.5" fretboard radius
  • Newly designed "ashtray" bridge

Fender Telecaster

Thanks for the great purchasing experience with Sweetwater. Also, thanks again to Chris for the help with buying a guitar I have waited years for. I was very satisfied with the customer service and the overall purchase of this instrument. I spoke to a friend of mine about buying this instrument and the great service that he bought a set of Pearl drums from Sweetwater as well.

Yeah, No, I've Had This Tele For a Month Now --

Yep, I had to feel it for myself -- it really puts me in touch with the elegance, function, and history of what it's all about! i.e. the music and musicians that used the same tool to the advantage of their aesthetic arrest. Thanks to Alex Campos in sales, I'll be callin' you when I need to talk mics. ~Big Texas Mike

Fantastic Tele

All I can say is WOW. I've owned a lot of guitars but this one is one of the few that hits every box on the form. It's got tall/thin frets rather than the normal jumbo frets you'll see on most American Fenders; it takes a few days to get used to. But once you do get used to it you'll never want to go back, or at least I don't. Fretting barre chords has become effortless, bending is smooth, it's just great. The pickups on this axe are the real showstopper. They sound perfect. Clean sounds, dirty sounds, it's insane how balanced, chimey and perfect they sound. That, combined with the treble bleed circuit, alone is worth the price of admission. If you pair this Tele up with a tweed deluxe and crank it, you can pull the volume back and get awesome clean tones, and dial in as much dirt as you want. I've owned Teles with boutique pickups, Duncans, Fender, etc, and these equal or exceed all of them. I was a little concerned when I first got the guitar, because it seemed to not hold its tuning well, and I was getting the pinging sound during tuning that is typical of a poorly-cut nut. That went away after the first two days, and I think it was actually related to the string tree, not the nut. I was going to ding it 0.5 stars, but since the problem abated I don't think it'd be warranted. Slight caveat - if you go for the transparent finishes, make sure you like the wood grain. The finishes all look amazing, but the grain varies quite a bit. The good thing is if you buy from Sweetwater you can see the guitar before you purchase. The grain on my Tele looks phenomenal, and I knew that before I bought. Side note - if you read Ron Fair's review for this same product you'll see he mentions the grain as well. He bought my first choice while I was shopping! Enjoy it man!

The Stuff of Dreams

57 years old , had everything BUT a Telecaster ; wanted the "Blackgaurd" experience { with the modern touches } without the high "vintage" price....and this guitar is everything I hoped it could be ! I have had enough "economy" AND Custom Shop instruments to know that I personally had better skip the temptation of the Chinese and Mexican models , and cough up the extra cash for the good stuff . Sooo glad I did---not an issue PERIOD with the guitar , or the Sweetwater experience . Worth every penny , and then some......Seeing the exact guitar I was purchasing sealed the deal---especially on this model , where the wood grain pattern varies wildly . I like this Tele so much , I might need a couple more!!! Thanks , Sweetwater!

Great Guitar!!

I've been playing guitar for a long time now, always been a Stratocaster guy. I have a bunch of them, a few Ibanez and a couple of Agile (lower cost LP copy, but a great guitar if you opt for the higher priced models). Anyway, I've been considering a Tele for years now and finally bit the bullet, purchased this little guy. WOW!! This guitar is fantastic. The finish is beautiful, the frets are beautifully dressed, the pups sound great. The neck is very comfortable (for my hands anyway) and I can't put this thing down. I have no regrets and although it will be hard to consider myself anything but a Strat guy, this guitar makes a pretty strong argument. Love it!! On another note, I've dealt with Sweetwater for a few years now and you guys are great. Never had a big issue and the (VERY) few minor issues were dealt with in a timely professional manner. My sales guy Jason Kovach is an absolute pleasure to deal with. Plus.....CANDY!!! I'll never buy from another online retailer
