First let me say I never write a reviews.....but this amazing instrument compels me to do so.
Been a huge Telecaster fan from a far for sometime now...can't remember been too long. Have never been able to afford a true Fender American Standard Tele. Now that I am getting more into playing the electric guitar for rock and blues I wanted to invest in a true quality instrument and decided that this was the time to finally take the plunge.
First of all I was blown away by the Sweetwater customer service. Both Niki and Kyle at Sweetwater were amazing to work with. Couple fast and courteous emails from them and I had my ordered placed. Received the guitar in excellent and safe packaging. The true beauty though was pulling this guitar out of the box.
First of all the cases that Fender is shipping with these guitars are beautiful in their own right. But let me tell you opening the lid of that case and seeing this beautiful metallic Mystic Blue finish on this Telecaster was a special moment. I know that sounds silly but it truly was an awesome experience. The finish on the Mystic Blue masterpiece is practically as flawless as one could expect. The maple fret board is simply stunning...gorgeous with its high gloss finish. The frets are beautifully polished and as smooth as a baby's you know what. And don't even get me started on how amazing this neck feels.
Granted I have always had alot of "budget" priced guitars and have been VERY happy with them....still am! But the playability and the way this neck just feels to the hand as you glide up and down it is down right amazing. Just feels as smooth as butter. Never felt anything like it before! I am simply blown away, and I haven't even gotten to the way it sounds yet!
Speaking of the sound.....just simply gorgeous Tele attack with the bridge pickup. That twang and attitude, just sound of being hot, from the bridge Broadcaster pup is absolutely amazing. Perfect for the rock and country rock I like to play. But if you roll the tone off on the Broadcaster you get a darker growl kind of sound that turns more dirty blues and gives that P90 kind of sound. Very cool. Then pulling the pup selector back to the middle position things mellow just a bit and I then get a nice bright jazz/blues sound. Slide all the way back to the neck pup and the twisted Tele really sings the blues the way I like it. Fender really hit it out of the park with these custom pups. Incredible combination and range of tones.
The sustain is amazing......and the tone controls really effect the sound. I have had other guitars where the tone knob really just seems to muffle the sound. Not here. There really dial out treble yet the bass doesn't seem to boosted. You can really control the sound you want and thus make this baby play a number of different styles of music.
To say I am impressed would be an understatement. I have been playing this beauty at least 2 hours a day since I got her.....and looking forward to putting in countless more hours in the future. This is one guitar that will never leave my stable. Just wish I would not have waited this long to get a hold of an American classic. Don't wait like I did, get one if you can.
