Put That Reverb Tank to Good Use

Radial's amazing TankDriver 500 Series module lets you add authentic spring reverb to your tracks. Using a pair of 1/4" to RCA cables, just plug the TankDriver into your combo amp's reverb tank (or any outboard reverb tank) and put it to work on your recordings. In addition to giving you that satisfying "twang" that only a true spring tank can provide, this module lets you tweak the signal's low- and high-end EQ. This outstanding module even includes a very handy wet/dry control, so you can dial in the perfect amount of genuine analog reverb from your tank. You also get a convenient switchable TRS insert, so patching is a snap. Radial even included a drive button on the TankDriver, so even less sensitive reverb units work great.

Radial TankDriver 500 Series Reverb Preamp Module Features:
  • Drives your outboard or amp combo's reverb tank
  • Lets you apply real spring reverb to your tracks
  • Includes blend, boom, and shimmer knobs for an amazing degree of control
  • Receive and send 1/4" jacks
  • Drive button pushes less sensitive reverb tanks effectively
  • Switchable Omniport adds TRS insert
Plug Radial's TankDriver module into your outboard reverb tank and put authentic spring reverb on your recordings!

Best option for that spring sound!

In my studio I have two great digital boxes, a Bricasti M7 and a Lexicon MX400XL, and a large selection of the familiar plugs. However, if you want that real spring reverb shimmer, boing, and occasional BOOM, the best option is a real spring. I recently purchased the Radial TankDriver and a MOD tank to go with it. I have it mounted in a Radial Powerhouse, so the rear Omniport connects cleanly to the tank without a tangle of cables on the front of the rack. This setup really surpassed all of my expectations! As an insert in PT, true spring reverb sound is easy and quick - it really is a great bit of kit. The shimmer and boom controls really work well to dial in the sound you want, and drive lets you compensate for impedance variations between different tanks. A couple things really surprised me. First, this setup is silent when not in use. No hiss, no hum. no extraneous noise that will cause problems or necessitate extra editing. Second, and of course YMMV depending on your setup, but the sound you get is extremely consistent and repeatable from take to take. I put the TankDriver on an aux buss and sent a clean electric guitar track to it. I then bounced it twice to two separate audio tracks. When I phase swapped one of the tracks, there was almost complete cancellation. I was blown away! A great unit, and highly recommended.

Radial tank driver

If you use the 500 series format this is a great way to expand your analog reverb processing needs. Simply plug in an amp style reverb tank and you are good to go. I used it on di bass and vocals. I ran it after a API 512 pre straight into pro tools with no problems. I love running vocals thru pedals but previously never have the option of phantom power or unpowered reverb tanks. Now all of these applications are done with ease. Thank you Radial.

Real Reverb

I just popped this into my 500 series lunchbox and it couldn't be any easier to dial in real spring reverb sounds. I pulled out my tank from a Fender Princeton Reverb and couldn't be happier. This is a great tool to include real spring reverb into your digital workstation. Boom and Shimmer are great to tweak the eq settings. You'll be surprised at how present this is in the mix. Your reverb tank will sound a lot smoother and more detailed than you'll find it going through your amp. Before I got this, I would reamp whatever I wanted to go through for real spring reverb with mixed results. Now I can go out and buy several reverb tanks to have an arsenal of unique spring reverb on my tunes. If you're into Reggae, soul, rock, blues, etc, etc, you'll love this!!
