    Yamaha TRBX174EW

i couldn't be any happier with my new entry level electric bass guitar!!! i previously purchased a high mass bass guitar from another music company which was the quadruple amount i payed for & was unhappy with it. even tho with the extra appointments it had it still didn't phase me. though my bass (Yamaha TRBX174EW) which i named "Root Beer" (because of it's color) had the simple standard appointments of a traditional bass guitar that does the same job of what an expensive bass guitar can do. kudos to Yamaha, Sweetwater & a special thanks to my "sales engineer" Mr. Frank Gerdts for making it happen for me. this is why i gave it the highest ratings!

    Excellent bass

This is a really great bass! It is my first bass, so I don't have much to compare it to other than guitars -- but it sure feels great. The neck is quite nicely finished, it's not a lacquered feel at all, but still nice and smooth.

The pots aren't the best. They don't do that much until you get them to ~8. The intonation is a bit off by the 12th fret, but this could be easily fixed. The E string does go flat easily (not during performance -- just, say, overnight). This could probably be fixed by tightening the tuning machine. But otherwise, this is a *terrific* bass, and you would do yourself a favor by buying it.

    I Love Yamaha !

Over the years, I have owned some expensive stuff and some not so expensive stuff.
I have found that my best buck-stretcher has been Yamaha. My first real guitar was an FG 300 acoustic.
I later owned a Yamaha classical that was great.
I purchased the TRBX174EWR bass and have been pleasantly surprised, again by Yamaha.
The tonality of the mahogany wood body and the combination of the P-bass and Jazz pickups give me range to get about any tone I need. I played a Ric for a long time and I think this is the closest thing to THAT sound I''ve gotten out of a bass in this price range.
Sweetwater has been my go to store and my fellow bassist, Nick Church, has been the best help ever. His knowledge and experience is second to none.

    Yamaha TRBX Bass

I am happy with this bass especially for the price but I think the electronic volume pots are a bit below standard. I will have to replace the pots because the wood, feel of neck, tuners, and all else is really good. Recommend this bass for anyone in the price range or beginning phase of bass playing.
