Your All-in-one Acoustic Percussion Rig!

The Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon is a percussion instrument unlike anything we've seen here at Sweetwater before, and it's one of the coolest acoustic instruments out there. Unlike the traditional kind of cajon you sit on, the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon sits in your lap, putting the playing surface comfortably in arm's reach. Four zones include a low tone in the middle, a high clean tone at the center edge, and a snare effect on either side of the walnut playing surface. The result is that you'll be able to pull a nearly inexhaustible range of sounds out of the Turbo Slap-Top Cajon, and thanks to the front-facing sound ports, even light finger rolls will project clearly in an acoustic performance. Can't take your kit to the gig? No problem. Grab a Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon, and you're all set.

Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon Features:
  • A unique percussion instrument that's perfect for virtually any acoustic gig
  • Broad walnut playing surface offers you three distinct sounds and tons of expression
  • The center section offers you rich bass and clean high percussion tones
  • Either side of the playing surface offers the snap and sizzle of snare sounds
  • Carbon-fiber body with 3 front ports provides ample projection for every note you play
  • Bottom-side cushioning adds comfort for extended playing sessions
Take a full range of percussion sounds to your next acoustic gig with the Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon!

Unique and versatile!!!!!

I was not sure what to expect buy my first cajon. I searched around a bit and read reviews and settled on the Turbo Slap-Top for comfort reasons. When I got it unboxed, I was amazed by the unique sounds I was able to create. Then when I mic'd it, and wow!! Everything I had hoped for and more!

Oh yeah! Amazing!

This is everything it is advertised!!! The range of sounds is my favorite part. And the usability for smaller settings or for house of worship I think is perfect.

For any age....even this grandma is enjoying this!!

I played a wide range of percussion instruments for eight years all through Jr. High and High School. I've been wanting just a regular box type Cajon for awhile now, ever since one of the young ladies in our church youth group got one when I was still working as a parent volunteer of a small group of girls. The only problem was I wasn't sure how great an idea that would be since I have a bad back as a result of a fall I took a few years ago. I was concerned that having to lean over to play it might not be the best thing for my back muscles. Call me crazy, but I am always drumming on my steering wheel while listening to my favorite Christian radio station on my way to work. When I happened to come across this laptop Turbo slap Cajon and watched the demonstration I knew this was the answer for this ol' grandma! The special after Christmas sale was the clincher that made me go ahead an order it. I am amazed at the tonal quality and how many different sounds come from it. When my legs get tired from holding it, I just set it on top of my hubby's Christmas popcorn tin and it is the perfect height for a stand! I highly recommend it for either a novice drummer or a professional drummer. I am thoroughly enjoying mine and reliving a childhood dream of being a drummer again after many many years! :)

Love it

I picked this up in a recording studio where we are working on my new CD, and fell in love with it. We have used it on the record, and my own just arrived, which I can't wait to play on stage in a trio project I'm working on. "Multitimbral" is not false advertising; it has a lovely range of tone — not only the solid, rich bass, and crisp snare slaps, but I'm really impressed with the tonality of the middle notes. It's really impressive to have this many tonal options. Nice work Meinl, and thanks Sweetwater.

Too much fun!

Man, I love this thing. Sounds just like the video. The center bass tone almost sounds more like a conga than a large box cajon... but that's to be expected given the dimensions of the box. At a recent "non-stop" drum circle (three hours, no break) I had my turbo slap-top on my lap for about an hour. I brought lots of other instruments, but I just couldn't put this thing down. It's incredibly comfortable to play, and the more you mess around with it (muting the top, etc), the more sounds you will find. If you do a slap with just your two middle fingers on the edge of the snare section it sounds like a gunshot! Flawless construction, and there's even an excellent, heavily-padded bag available for it (get it if you're going to play out, as this instrument is a bit awkward to carry). For this ridiculously low price, I guarantee you will not be disappointed in this purchase. Great for stage (mics up beautifully), drum circles/community drumming, building technique at home... and I imagine it could be incredibly useful in the studio as well. Just get yourself one!
